It was a good blog as always. Makarov not getting a look yet is a little bit of a surprise to me. He's the biggest wildcard of that goaltending group. He also has a knack for coming up big in big games at the lower levels. |

yeah, I'm with you on that...perhaps tonight...he's still an unknown quantity, though...he was in the echl before he got the call-up to Rochester last season...still inconsistent, still needs work |

He needs consistency. You can't be great one night, and pulled the next in the NHL. |

Reinhart's lack of production in his first preseason doesn't concern me in the least. However I think the top 4 prospects in this past draft were all closer than anticipated. |

It sounds like Schaller and McCabe are having a good camp. Does Schaller make the roster or is he headed to Rochester and will McCabe be in Buffalo? It appears based on sheer numbers that Grigorenko and Armia start the year in Rochester as linemates. |

And that's why I called him a wildcard. He's definitely very raw, which was why he was never drafted in the first place. Still, if he ever gets it together, he could end up being the guy they go with in a couple of years. |

is it troublesome?...idk...he shoulda hit the scoresheet by now, imo...but that doesn't mean he'll be any less a player down the road...would like to have seen him take the bull by the horns and be more of a scorer than set-up man in traverse city...just my thoughts |

It's always dangerous to make comparisons like this, but Crosby took something like 12 games to get his first goal, and he had a couple of assists playing with a few guys that are known to be able to score (Palffy, Recchi, Mario, etc.). Granted those guys were near the end of their careers, but they still had more scoring ability than this team does now. |

Sounds like the worlds greatest prospects are struggling. Who'd thunk it?

lovin' what the jackets have done, beginning with the Nash trade...it's been a long time coming for a great group of fans |

They are a good team to root for this year. Lots of young talent. However they have made some questionable moves as far as the Dubinsky extension (length) Johansen contract dispute, and Nathan Horton |

Reinhardt needs to go back to juniors and get stronger. He is constantly getting knocked to the ice. He will be alright. Any word on tonight's lineup in Toronto?
Makarov was not good in Traverse City so I don't think he will get a game and gets sent down.
Neuvirth makes us look like a lock to get McEichel so he should be our number one goalie. |

Great read. Spot-on evaluation of all these rookies. As much as I'd love to see someone like Rino light the pre season on fire, im 100% down with all of these guys developing further at a lower level. We all know how the "Grigo experiment" turned out. |

The playcalling has been fine. It's been all about execution today. Until that blown coverage touchdown, there had been none of it in the 2nd half. |
