Didn't mean to offend you , my bad. Stanton is the 5th best d-man on this team, better than Sbisa/Weber/Corrado,
- Nucker101

I agree

I like Sbisa better, personally. he's a 1st rounder, dont even think Stanton was drafted. But Stanton is good, and overachieves and I have nothing against him. Its awesome that the Canucks are so deep this year on D, and not dresing guys like Alberts. lol
- morrison1980

Tanev was not drafted, and I think he's basically a top 10 draft pick. Being drafted high or low doesn't translate to success on the ice; just look at Datsyuk.

No, actually Sbisa IS better then Stanton, its actually a fact. But yes he's also a first rounder aswell, thats my point. I guess that fact doesnt hurt my arguement does it.
- morrison1980

Instead of being subjective why not give some objective facts about how their game stack up against each other?

I can use the "eye" test too, and IMO Stanton is wayyyy better than Sbisa. Sbisa is tough as nails, but cant make a stretch pass to save his life. At least Stanton can carry the puck into open ice and make a solid pass once in a while. All I've seen from Sbisa is hesitant play. There were a few times where he had the opportunity to shoot on the PP and chose to pass it off to a less advantageous position.

geez I stopped reading this feed once I saw ALHberts mentioned twice.

I thought everyone thought the canucks were moving forward, not back to alhberts types

As Gullzy pointed out, here's the facts:

Last couple seasons of each player; graph cuts & pastes quite poorly.

Sbisa

2013-14 Norfolk Admirals AHL 4 0 2 2 0 1 -- -- -- -- --
2013-14 Anaheim Ducks NHL 30 1 5 6 43 2 0 1 1 5
NHL Totals 266 9 47 56 217 14 0 2 2

Stanton:

What I make of that, is (on average) Sbisa got a point every five games, Stanton got one every four or so, if my math holds up.

Sbisa +2
Stanton +5 (hard to imagine with Vans season, but there you go..)

Thanks for putting in the work Hazard. I hope that Sbisa can live up to his potential. But if were talking about who slots in where, Stanton is a notch above, albeit marginally.

Even using the eye test, you can tell his puck skills and skating are better.

Yeah you're right, slotting them in now is a bit premature. On a side note though, how many people here think that this team can make the playoffs?

That's a little harsh. Keep in mind the guy is a year younger than Stanton( who i love) and yet has 201 more NHL games played, upon playing directly in the NHL after being drafted.

Look at his career stats among the Swiss leagues, WHL, AHL and NHL. He has never been an offensive point producer and still turned pro at 18-19 years old due to his physical play, (so called) defensive play and skating ability.

The guys total upside is probably around a Willie Mitchell, but if he can clear the net, make some big hits and pass/skate the puck out of the zone I'd be happy.

Definite reclamation project (still only 24 years old) but the potential is there i suppose.

Hope he gets in over Weber

I think the flames will surprise people this year. Playoffs no. But man, as bad as they were last year, They had more heart than any other team. they lost alot of close games. Bennett is going to be a big time player.

I initially posted both players entire career stats, but the post was annoyingly long, and wildly unmanageable when cut and pasted. So, I trimmed it down a bit.True, Sbisa was very good in Europe. Like I said, I actually like him better, but on paper...
