Berube is exactly right. The Flyers are standing still. No team is fast standing still. And the puck moves faster then any player can skate. - MJL
I have no worries with the disagreement, I think they are primarily a slow team and its one of the biggest faults.

Luckily come October 8, it's a clean slate. The early season schedule is a bear, if they don't play well they are going to be buried in the standings, and will be chasing the season. - PLindbergh31
look, it's pre-season, they're not playing most of the lineup....it's a mixed group every night and that's by virtue of the schedule of 43 games in 5 nights. it's just bad all around. i'd rather only have 4 or 5 games total and play the group you think you're going with.
the situation is not helping them at all. if anything it's hurting them. |

Let's look at the positives, instead of dwell on the negatives.
Rinaldo's physical game is on point. He was a He-Man clearing the Flyers crease. |

He's not really a WOW type player, it shows up from time to time but it's not really his game.
You maybe disappointed if you are expecting that to happen often. - ob18
The majority of time I have seen him has been at the world juniors. He gave me that vibe then of not being a "wow" type player.
Cant help but to hope for a little more. I think he has it in him as time goes on. He captained that Canada junior team if I remember correctly too, so I keep my expectations high.

They're not a slow team at all. They are certainly playing slow tonight. The Flyers aren't a fast team, more like middle of the pack. But as long as they move their feet, and play at the speed they're capable of playing at, their skating is not an issue.

be careful with that. i have a college friend who burned his lip on a flaming shot over 20 years ago, and he still has issues with it. |

Found a stream that's 15 minutes or so behind. "Philadelphia 76ers at New York Rangers"

Agreed. Tough to gauge the performance of an entire team when half these players won't be in the lineup. I'm just looking at what the regulars are doing. What I saw from the "top pairing" was scary. |

Do you want to find out that he's a good NHL player when he's playing with another team? - MJL
To be honest, at this point, yes I would. Like he hasn't done anything to merit staying on the team...? Am I crazy? Like tell me I'm wrong... (that's not a confrontational tone, tell me I'm wrong through)
Like I don't want to keep a player like Akeson on pure "potential" or what he "may" be able to do. He doesn't create space for himself, and needs players to DO ALL THE WORK on the line he plays on...
Ponder this.. He will not make top-6 if he stays, therefore, Vinny will probably be his center. Take into account the type of player Vinny is, who does the work on a like that is 2/3 dead of hustle? (Vinny is much better than Akeson in the hustle department, though)
And he doesn't have the pedigree Sharp or Williams had, so yes, I'd gladly take that chance |

They've got 2 games after tonight. I think we see a more complete lineup for those two games.

Why take the chance if you don't have to. I agree with you that Akeson has not stood out in the pre season. But I want to see him in a complete NHL lineup where he is a support offensive player, instead of one of the top offensive players in the lineup!
Has Brayden Schenn impressed you in the game tonight?

I see your point, I do. But, Schenn has shown what he can do, Akeson hasn't at the NHL level... No one in tonight's game has impressed so far, aside from some really nice things I noticed from Morin, all smaller things, but he is the real deal I think.
I don't say bury him or trade him away, but I feel like he shouldn't be handed a job on the opening night, or the team through the year. I'd rather have a Jones on my third line than a lazy guy with hands lol. But, I will agree there could be potential there that is very much keeping him. |

Brayden Schenn hasn't impressed me for more than a handful of stretches during his time with the team.
The Schenn brothers could have used a little less time at neverland ranch. |
