The first 10 minutes of the game were horrific, and the Flyers were buried real fast in a 3-0 hole. Thereafter, they continued to be sloppy defensively but at least they competed.
The established veterans, by and large, have been awful the last two games. They haven't been dialed in at all. Also keep in mind that:
1) If you include the players who participated in Saturday's scrimmage, tonight's game is the fourth game of a stretch of five in six nights. Very hard to get any sort of continuity with a hideous schedule. Most days, half the squad isn't even in the same place.
2) The Flyers dressed the bare minimum of NHL veterans tonight and the forward lineup in particular consisted almost entirely of bottom-of-the-lineup NHL candidates and Phantoms-bound players. - bmeltzer
I'm not sweating it. Pretty impressed with Morin this preseason tho |

I think he has the highest two-way upside of them all. He'll probably never be much of physical player even as he fills out but he's barely scratched the surface of the rest of his game. Love his wheels especially. - bmeltzer
That combined with his calm demeanor...kid never looked rattled, even when he was recovering from a rare mistake.
I'm really hoping that when they finally get a full roster on the ice, they look better than they did tonight at the outset. I know it was barely the minimum number of vets, but, as you said, they're not dialed in at all. |

Pretty frustrating that the AHL age requirement will keep Morin in juniors another year. He looks ready for the Phantoms. And I think two years in the AHL would do him loads better than splitting the next two years between Q and the AHL. |

I only turned this on in the third. How has Bellamare looked? - MBFlyerfan
Had a couple of good chances but didn't get off the kind of shots I saw on that highlight reel. He looked very solid, but not as fast as I expected. Probably because he's just gotten over his LBI. |

Absolutely -- I hate how this preseason has been scheduled. I don't recall one being this bad before, as far as that's concerned.

I would like to believe that when they get an NHL roster on the ice, we'll see a little more -- I won't lie, I would've liked to have seen Couturier show a little more "oomph" in the games he played, but that being said, I don't know how much his injury hindered him.
Everyone else, I'm just gonna have to believe the coaches are going to pick the right roster and they're going to be ready on the 8th.

Opposing teams really need to coordinate their gameday rosters if these split squad things are going to work. Those games threw off everything from the get go. |

Nothing to get overly frustrated over. The Rangers brought in their guns tonight and we didn't. I feel like Brayden Schenn has played a lot this preseason, maybe too much. |

very fast for a guy his size. that plus his reach is going to make his side of the ice very hard for defenders to get through.
when I saw him up close at the prospects game he did a fantastic job of breaking up plays at his blue line. |

The only bad play they made was on the last goal, both guys on one side and behind the net, and Brayden Schenn ended up behind the net as well. Other than that sequence, they were the Flyers best pair |

It wasn't ideal defense, not sure why Schenn felt the need to leave the front of the net with both D behind net - Jsaquella

he was excellent tonight, aside from getting a bit tangled with ghost in the corner on the last rangers goal, but schenn could and should have helped him out there instead of collapsing to the line and letting the puck go right through his feet on the centering pass. |

Morin also took an unnecessary penalty after the whistle that resulted in a goal against us. |

yeah, i know. who cares. it was the type of play that could have just as easily not been called on a little scrum after the whistle. and our top pairing looked like clueless turnstyles on the ensuing pk, failing to track and get to any rebounds, let alone block any shots.
he and ghost were the best unit by far. not even close. |
