So they can use "we're the oldest team in the league" as an excuse when/if they miss the playoffs... which reminds me of another fan base, but I can't quite put my finger on which one.

1) on a technicality, you might have been right. Gomez was acquired June 30 and technically, Michael Ryder was still under contract with Montreal on June 30. he became a UFA on July 1 so you could say they were teammates for about 12 hours. they could have been teammates again in 2013 but Gomez was bought out before Montreal re-acquired him. all true stories.
