Just a few thoughts of the exhibition season so far.

- While I understand that the pre season is normally about the players getting back into game shape, shouldn't it also be about experimentation on the side of the coach? The Coburn and MacDonald pair seems forced. Watching the pair play last night seems forced. It seems like Berube has an idea and doesn't plan on going back on it, when he could be trying different pairs from game to game. We already know MacDonald and Streit were a pair with Islanders, and during this time they were able to make the playoffs. Luke Schenn works well with MacDonald, so Schenn and Streit can alternate with MacDonald depending on the situation. Coburn and Grossmann have been an effective pair against top lines. My concern with Grossmann isn't so much how bad he is with the puck, as I am more concerned with his health as the season grows older.

- The Power Play looks like Giroux, Streit, Voracek and Simmonds are locks, as I'm sure everyone expected. I suppose Brayden Schenn or Vincent Lecavalier will replace Hartnell in the middle of theUUmbrella. To me both look effective. In my opinion both should get equal opportunity there. However, I suppose if Lecavalier is the first to be placed on the fourth line and proves to be ineffective at even strength, you have to me him effective somewhere. The best way to trade a guy is to find away to up his value.

- I'm super happy to hear Giroux will play tonight. I was worried they might sit him through the entire pre season. In my opinion, I don't care who you are, I feel you should see at least two exhibition games.

- Maybe some will differ but I don't see how Blair Jones doesn't start the season with the Flyers. I know the Flyers envisioned Bellemare possibly being our fourth line center but regardless of Bellemare's injury, Jones has truly come to camp and earned himself a spot to begin the season.

I step out of Penn station and this smell of vomit and heroin fills my nostrils. The city is constantly under construction, it's noisy and congested as (frank), the "artsy" people there (and everywhere) need to get the poop kicked out of them, and the whole city reeks of smug.

i was in brooklyn a month ago. horrible.

parts of the city are well kept and beautiful, but overall, not so much. it's hilarious to hear anyone from that place refer to philadelphia as a slum compared the center of the universe.
