So has Ghost, and to be quite honest, Hagg

I think it says more about the vets than it speaks to the readiness of the kids.

That's the problem. I hope that it's just vets going thru the motions and trying to not get hurt/get the rust off than being awful.

If only Grossmann could skate

and stickhandle

and pass

and shoot

sigh

- BiggE

He stickhandles fine... pretty hard to take him off the puck because he's so big and strong. The rest, well, he's a shot-blocking defensive D and is what he is.

But he did score his annual goal tonight (unfortunately for Nick, it won't count come next Wed and it's a 50-50 proposition at best if he gets one during the reg season).

Maybe he can score one in July.

I don't think AMac is as bad as he's looked, not as confident bout MDZ and Schultz would be barely ahead of Lauridsen on my depth chart

Why is it that when a veteran plays poorly, people who point it out get chided with, it's just preseason.

But when a guy people don;t like much plays well, we get stuff like "Rinaldo's looked good all preseason"?

- Jsaquella

So because some people don't like Rinaldo, it can't be pointed out that he's played well? I personally don't care who doesn't like him, has nothing to do with giving an objective view point on the player.

Pre season is pre season. And it's a long 82 games season. Some veterans are just looking to get some work in, get some timing down, and aren't really going 100% all out. Not uncommon.

Akeson might've needed tonight a little more than he would've liked
- AllInForFlyers

You are quite right. Entering tonight, he had probably slipped to 3rd in the three-way battle with Jones and Bellemare for two NHL spots with the only thing saving him was that he is subject to waivers now and Bellemare isn't. Berube wasn't exactly gushing with praise for him when asked yesterday.

But he's been excellent tonight.

I think he has a nice heavy shot, it's just not accurate.

I love when they go over the tweets. Hilarious.

They'll put up a tweet and Jones or Clement or whoever will just read it and basically say "yeeup"

Or just Laughton, heck even Jones I'd settle for
- AGL_91

Absolutely Jones. I've liked his play he is a 4th line grinder where as Rinaldo is a pest/enforcer.

No question. He's going to be a pain in the ass to deal with, along with all these other speedy good looking young ranger forwards

Hudon? He's like a Jason Akeson clone.

He has but he still needs more experience.

They aren't going to trade AMac this week over Morin and Ghost having a strong preseason.

When Morin does eventually come up I think it will be at the expense of Grossmann.

- hereticpride

Morin definitely isn't ready for the big show from watching him tonight. He looks very promising and it's exciting. But right now hes not doing more than if Lauridsen were in there.

That's him.

Blame autocorrect.

So...skills, but still a fringe NHL player, that might not even make it?

Yeah, he's smallish and not an especially good skater, but he's got good hockey sense and a nose for the puck.
