Biggest takeaway tonight was B Schenn's game tonight at LW. I think he will fit in nicely on that line and bring pretty much anything Hartnell could. The chemistry obviously still needs work but it's looking good. - Just5
Yeah, I think Schenn just needs to stay in one position, with one line and keep his game simple.
Outside of the presence of Giroux, the real possibility that Schenn & Couturier could take big steps this season is a reason for optimism.
I've knocked Berube, but one of his good qualities is that he's not afraid to recognize a mistake and attempt to correct it. I think he knows consistent situations will help both Schenn & Couturier this season. |

Berube is on the 3 year flyer coach plan wash rinse repeat - Just5
He might be on the one and done, too. Hextall might decide he wants a different guy if they don't do well or if the key youngsters don't continue to get better.
I'm not calling for Berube to be fired, just far from sold on him. |

Some of that's gotta be maturity and a sense of urgency on the part of Schenn -- he has to know that if he blows this opportunity to play with an in-prime Hart Trophy finalist and an in-prime scoring winger who just might be borderline elite, well, you don't just get those kinds of opportunities everywhere

He might be, I might have flipped those two. - Jsaquella
Yeah, I think it was Raffl-Vinny-Umberger. One of the reasons they traded Hartnell for Umberger was because he could play both sides and be a fill in at center if necessary.
Raffl actually had a sloppy game, but I'll cut him some slack because he's been very good before tonight. |

B Schenn reminds me so much of Dustin Brown at times. Obviously he has a long way to go but I believe Brown was a center when he was young. |

Oh, for sure.
A player, or any person, isn't a plant. You can't water, feed and give sunlight to a guy and know what he will be. He's got to take advantage of the situation he's being given himself. If he can't bring consistency, it'll be on him. Getting a shot with Giroux is basically being handed the keys to the Ferrari

Yeah, Raffl has had some sloppy moments in other games, too. trying to do too much with the puck in most instances. He's fired up and is smart enough to get himself settled. |

Pretty sure you're right about Brown being a center. There's definite similarities. I wish Schenn showed the two way ability he did in juniors, he really looked like he could be a really good, all situations center, but there's still too many times he gets lost in his own end.
Being on a wing should help that. |
