Well if that's the case, then the Flyers will obviously be forced to keep Morin because he makes the team better, and that was the criteria that Hextall stated for a young player to make the team.
I'm really trying to understand why the Flyers traded for and re-signed MacDonald to a long term contract. When even the fans can see that he's not that good of a player! - MJL
Yeah because the Flyers have such a stellar track record when it comes to signing players and all..
In all seriousness.. Do you think MacDonald has played like a top 4 d-man yet this pre-season? |

Trade them then. |

Both may be more talented in certain facets, or even all around for glimpses, but they are still both extremely raw in certain areas of their game. I think Morin stays for the 9 game trial, but doesnt stick. I think Ghost goes to the AHL and comes back around February/March. |

The Flyers have a good track record of acquiring top defenseman.
It's pre season. I don't care how any veteran player looked in pre season. I care how he plays once the season started. |

Being talented doesn't make either player ready for the NHL, or a better option then any of current projected defenseman. The only player I have questions about right now, is Del Zotto. |

They may be better options in the future, but they aren't better options now. |

I could use a blog or article on the Flyers cap options with regard to giving 9 games to the rookies and the implication on opening night roster spots. Any help? |

I'm not positive, but I believe they have the cap maneuverability and space to do that. But they would have to create a roster spot. They could do that by waving and demoting a defenseman such as Schultz. Or going with 13 forwards and carrying 8 defenseman.
The only thing that could throw a wrench into it, is what the Flyers have to do on the last day of camp to mazimize LTIR. |

Depends on your expectations for them. If their a 50 50 shot for the playoffs like I think then no |

I think the only way this team misses the playoffs is a long term Giroux or Mason injury. |

Oh, there's been plenty of this player is no good, and what happens if they get injuries, and questions about the coach etc. Normal fan stuff. I'm personally excited about the season, and I think the Flyers have a strong team. |

Really? Last night the Rangers fielded a B team. You are convinced that Morin is ready for the NHL based on a couple of preseason games against teams comprised of a few vets that really are just trying to get in game shape and not get injured, and some rookies who might never sniff the NHL?

It helps that the east is so weak of course. So their prob like a 60/40 shot |
