How many more cuts do we need? 3 or 4?

RW we have Vrbata Kassian Hansen Dorsett and Vey, that is one too many.

Jensen and Burrows can also play right side.

IMO Burrows value will drop even more this year. I think the sooner you trade him the better. No one will pick a 4.5 mil winger with 10 goals at TDL.

Trade?

Higgins needs to go. Solid bottom 6 player, but not the type of guy you rebuild around

Problem is LF is a weakness on the team. Daniel is getting older and is coming off a bad year.

No number 2 line LW . Players will battle .

Higgins is the best # 3 LW we have.

4 th line LW vacant.

Virtanen will fill the number two spot next year because of the lack of talent , that is a lot of pressure . I think the Canucks need to go out and trade for a left winger.

How has Horvat been playing? What are the chances of him being sent back to London?

50/50?

gets a lot of praise from the coach (publicly) for playing a complete game, but there are 5 guys on one-way contracts ahead of him on the depth chart.

Four I think? Bottom six is crowded though...I could see some moves there.

Higgins, Hansen, Matthias, Vey, Horvat, Dorsett, Sestito, Richardson - did I miss anyone?

Maybe Kassian and Burrows if they don't pick their game up.

Stefan Eliott clears waivers.

Not sure what our contract situation is but he would have been a great pickup.

23 year old local boy, former second round* pick.

"Elliott is a spectacular offensive defenseman who possesses great vision and an accurate shot. He is rarely caught out of position and comfortable at both ends of the ice, though he lacks the physical edge of the prototypical NHL defenseman"

"Elliott is projected to be a top four defenseman and power play quarterback. He is currently one of the top defensemen for the Lake Erie Monsters and could use some time in the minors to help his defensive game"

Would have definitely been an upgrade over Weber and would arguably have become our best defensive prospect.

Sorry about your baseball season, from the highlights it looks like it was an exciting game.

Anyone catch this tweet from a few days ago?

Steve Ewen @SteveEwen

#Canucks Benning admitted part of Markstrom move was to look at Horvat, Shinkaruk, etc. "Some of our young forwards have been really good."

I said it last year, Burrows has lost a step, bottom six guy now...so ya you can add him to that list. Which means, once again, we have no second line, unless, Bonino is the real deal and Kassian can step up to the plate.

For the record, Bonino looks decent so far this pre-season.

He was a second round, not overall. If claimed off waivers he would have to stick in the NHL, I doubt he would actually be an upgrade on anyone who looks to make the opening day roster in Vancouver.

If Vrbata is the real deal doesn't it make more sense to put Burrows back with the twins so there are two lines that can actually score?

My bad, ( think he would have got claimed if that was the case ?)

I dunno, as opposed to Weber i think Elliott has the potential to develop into a larger role and would put him ahead of the likes of Corrado, Tommernes etc.

Does that happen if he sits in the press box night after night? I think Stanton is a better option at this point, which would make him #7 or #8 on the depth chart.

What do you do with Kassian then? He proved last year that he should get a top six shot at RW. Vrbata plays RW I think, so that bumps Kass down to the 3rd, then what do you do with Hansen?

Bottom line is we're short a top six left winger and possibly a right winger too.

Kassian is a bust, time to pull the plug.
