Agreed, the way Michelletti was carrying on, you'd have thought that Stortini was fighting Girardi or St. Louis. - BiggE
Yea but nobody ever confused Michelletti with Daryl Reaugh or any other upper echelon hockey analysts. |

Was Jim Jackson always as bias as he is now? Or am I now just old enough to realize it? This is something that I've been thinking about. Anybody want to help me out?? - NickTheKid87
Yeah, I think his tone definitely comes off as biased, especially when the opposing team scores. Not saying he needs to cheer but he usually sounds disappointed even when the opposing team pots an impressive goal. I've also never been a fan of his baseball-like broadcast demeanor |

I always go out of my way to watch games on CBC or Rogers Sports Net. Those Canadian broadcasters know how to call a game. - MBFlyerfan
The #1 CBC broadcast team is tremendous. Jim Hughson is probably my favorite national hockey broadcast play by play guy. Although I have no beef with Doc. |

Yeah Hughson is really great too, and not just as a hockey broadcaster. His work in the Triple Play video games is why I got so into baseball for a few years. |

Seriously, is there an active NHL analyst better than him?
He knows his stuff without being painfully boring in his breakdowns. The verbiage he uses is fresh and he works well with his play by play partner. - MidnightMarauder
His turn of phrase and use of imagery is indeed legendary. |

If I am watching a broadcast on a teams network, and it is the teams announcers on the teams channel, not only do I understand the homerism, but I expect and welcome the homerism.
Its part of the reason I like the NHL package, I WANT to hear the homer announcers. It gives me a different perspective.
Ill admit, Ill sometimes be watching a Flyers road game and start hating them because I am being influenced by the announcers without even realizing it.
Complaining about homer announcers being paid by a team on a broadcast being shown by the team is just silly. Its like being annoyed by the fans at a road game for rooting against your team. |

You are correct, sir. Ever since I started ordering the NHL Center Ice package I often found myself watching Dallas Stars broadcasts, even in their lean years. |

It's not really that but he criticizes the refs a lot when the Flyers don't get calls in their favor. Then we see a replay and it was a good non-call. Has he always done that? I've noticed it the past few seasons. |

Because whoever decided to fire them all and replace them with men had a pretty nice lawsuit staring them down. It was a total bonehead move not to just have the girls cover up with team gear to begin with. |

Very few team broadcasts exhibit 100% neutrality between the home team and the opposition.
Bill Clement has turned quite homerish now that he is a fully employed by CSN Philadelphia. Having said that though, I do think Michelletti got a touch too jolly in his ripping of Stortini.
Stortini never struck me as an especially dirty player in his days with the Oilers. - MidnightMarauder
Clement and Jackson are awful. Clement downright embarrassing leaning to near unprofessional when he's ooooing and awwwwing at perceived near misses by the flyers |

I was really hoping for trained chimps in black and orange tutus. Bonus points if they would throw feces at Pierre McGuire during national telecasts. |

There's certainly truth to this, but I think my biggest criticism of a duo like the pens broadcasters is that, while I agree Sidney Crosby is a really amazing player, not every single other member of the penguins team is equally as great and amazing as Crosby, and sometimes they make it seem that way, as if the pens have 0 weaknesses. And I think it's a shame when a large portion of the fan base buys into that idea and I feel like the broadcasters let that happen. It's just not realistic. |
