Better deal not a better player. 5 million for a 25-30 goal scorer will be a bargain in 2 seasons. As long as he keeps producing 55-60 pts per year its going to be a steal compared to the 7 million per year others are going to be making - Stripes77

Why are so many people wanting to send Samson back to Juniors. Why not see what he has and if he sticks, let him play? |

I don't think anyone "wants to send him back to juniors" so much as they think that's what's going to end up happening.
I know personally I expect that will happen - but it's not like I lose sleep praying they will. |

Can find leadership for a lot less. - Sabresfan-365
So you can find a player in his prime that will score 20 - 30 goals a year ? Is a good character ? Looks forward to mentoring young players ? Likes the head coach and actually has come out and stated he likes the area ? When most players from other teams bash Buffalo. All for 5 million a season .
You always seem to have an answer. Problem is ,they are usually wrong . You should try and help over throw the British Monarchy over there . Set Scotland free . Stop being that guy . You have become the ugly Canadian Sabres fan living in Scotland.

I think he has all the tools but is just not physically there yet . Why risk him getting hurt in a throw away year . Let him go back to junior and dominate . He gets bigger , stronger and gets more confidence.

Hate to be that guy, but he scored most of those riding Tavares' coat tail - Sabresfan-365
Moulson wasn't on the same line as Tavares before he was traded to us last year. He still put up 9 points in 11 games, for a .81 ppg average. When he came to Buffalo, that number dropped a bit to .65 and he maintained that while with the Wild. So, if he manages that same average, he'll have about 53 points this year and he'll be bringing leadership.
I'm fine with his contract. |

"Hey Sabre fans, we messed up keeping Grigorenko here when he clearly wasn't ready, we are going to do the same thing again with our #2 draft pick"
"Hey Mikhail, I know you improved a lot over the summer, but we are sending you to Rochester, and handing Reinhart and undeserved roster spot to start the year, stay motivated" |

I can't imagine i have much competition there. I actually voted no in the independence vote, lack of preparation from the yes side was worrisome.
As for the rest, I bet Moulson could come up with plenty of nice things to say about any nhl team that was prepared to pay him 5 mil a year for 5 years, if i remember correctly we were the highest offer in the end.
Plus how do you know he'll score 20-30 goals in every year of his contract? Can you really say that he'll be good for 25 or so goals at 34 on our 3rd line (I'm assuming by then our young guns would have taken hold of the top six). |

Rest on the powerplay with JT. If it was a short term deal i could see the benefits, but there is a very real possibility that in year 4 and 5 that contract becomes crippling and un-tradeable. |

Watching last night against the Caps 'B' squad, he looked sort of able to hang. Against the real Caps he would have looked sub-par, which is perfectly okay at this stage. I think the Grigo situation has a lot to do with it. |

He will be gone in 3 IMO. I like Moulson, but don't really understand the infatuation with him. He's a decent player. Nothing more, and signed for 5 years |

3rd line guys are already making 4 mil a season so in 3 years when Moulson is a 3rd liner they will be at the 5 mil range. Even then I would take 40 pts a year from a guy who wants to be here at $5 mil per. |

My feelings as well. I get that he brings value to the team, but the term does make it worrisome should they choose to keep him around that long. Hopefully it doesn't come to that but at his age it's possible. |

Because I already mentioned it in other posts, didn't feel like re typing but here goes.
50pts and 19/20 goals at this point is probably his ceiling given where the sabres are as an organization. He was never a great skater to begin with and scored most of his goals the dirty way. As he gets up there in age, I find it hard to believe that he'll be able to put up the numbers that originally warranted 5 million dollars per year. |

But that's the other bit i'm questioning, did he want to be here or did he want to be here at 5 million dollars a year for 5 years? Based off what I remember from july 1st, he likes buffalo, but he likes at his price. |
