If they could bury the entire cap hit, sure. - Jsaquella
No difference really in burying Del Zotto, and keeping Morin.
Del Zotto's Cap hit is 1.3M
If you bury Del Zotto, the Flyers would have to carry 375K of dead cap space.
Morin's Cap hit is 894,167 + 375,000 = $1,269,167
The Flyers would actually save 30K on the Cap by sending down Del Zotto and keeping Morin.
Only thing is, would Del Zotto clear waivers.

IMO, you gotta be patient with these defensive prospects. Just because Morin doesn't look out of place and the veteran dmen do look out of place, doesn't mean the Flyers need to keep him up.
This is not the proper team to break in young defenseman with. They don't have the two-way play or commitment to defense that these young players will need. Allow Ghost and Hagg to lead the Phantoms, allow Morin to dominate the Q and play for Team Canada at the WJC and make adjustments to the roster next offseason.
Saying Ghost and Morin are better than Schultz and MDZ, so they should be on the team is just flat out wrong. You need to make the decision based on whats best for the individual player and not whats best for the current team. - PhillySportsGuy
But what if one or both was as good or better than Schenn? Or MacDonald?

It just says the people over at EA are bad at evaluating talent. That game is horrendous anyway. - NickTheKid87
For the most part. EA is not very accurate in rating players. Although I dont disagree with Del Zotto. He has the tools. He just isnt consistant and makes bad decisions. |

Ill tell ya what, that JVR for Schenn deal is looking even better today.
- jak521
JVR is a good example of a forward that they weren't patient with. Yeah, he stayed in college a little longer than they wanted. But as many have said, a young player's progress is not always linear. And they gave up on JVR way too soon.
Hope they learned their lesson for when these kids struggle. And they will. |

Have been better than all the vets....... - GOA88
Streit has had a very good preseason.
I think everyone is looking at these guys with orange colored glasses. They have made mistakes that have led to goals. I've seen Ghost get outmuscled at times and I've seen Morin make some bad passes and bad reads. |

They did lose patience with him. But he's overrated as a player by many.

Is the margin between Ghost and MDZ, and Morin and AMac going to push you into contending status? If the answer is no, then the kids must go. |

No doubt about the role that confidence plays. And early confidence can also fade when things go astray. I think that is Del Zotto's issue. He doesn't look confident. The talent didn't disappear. - MJL
If that is the case, then starting his year on the bench would be a big problem, in my opinion. |

Suggested Bobby Ryan has agreed to 7 yrs x $7.25. Waiting for confirmation.
Maybe we can put this one to bed now.

Then they can replace them later. If they are better than Schenn or MacDonald, it won't go away if they play a year in the AHL. |

Yes you do. And if he plays 50 or more games, it's an accredited season towards free agency also.

It's about the player though. Saying they're better than these defenseman just shows how bad our current defense is. It doesn't mean these guys are ready to play 82 games in the NHL. |

The problem isn't orange-colored glasses. The problem is that some of the veterans haven't played well enough to get Morin sent packing |

Yes. That poop is fine during the preseason, but when Morin turns a puck over and it leads to a Crosby GW goal, people are going to be complaining about why these guys are in the lineup when they aren't ready yet. |
