My point is... LA has 2 cups with or without Carter. You overvalue him. He is a good player... But he is not the #1 star player that will win you a cup. He is a compliment to the team LA already had. Same with 4th liner Richards. - GOA88
You don't know that. Acquiring Richards and Carter helped put LA over the top. Richards played over 15 minutes a game in the playoffs. Carter was 2nd in icetime only to Kopitar among LA forwards in the playoffs. Sounds like you have a bias there.

You could get almost $300K closer to maximizing it by paper demoting Akeson and recalling Laughton. But it's not worth it because Akeson could get claimed. - Feanor
It's going to be difficult getting it perfect.

I'm not sure how much Morin can grow as a d-man in the Q by being so ridiculously physically dominant against his competition. For me, that scenario could lead to falling into bad habits more so then playing against better competition. I don't know what is the right answer on him. - ravishingone
I was thinking the same thing. Its a real shame Morin can't go to the AHL. I feel that's where he belongs.
I also think that Ghost as great as he's been needs some time to work on his defensive game. Offensively he's ready now. I expect him to be a mid season call-up.
You really never know how things will play out thought. One of the their top six could get injured game 1 and are you really going to play Nick Schultz over a several week period? No way I think that happens.

I dont hate them or anything. I think Quick was the monumental reason they won those cups. Carter and Richards not even being part of the top 5 best players on the team.
1.Quick
2.Doughty
3.Kopitar
4.Williams (Playoffs - Mr. Clutch)
5.Gaborik (Playoffs)

I don't agree with this at all. No way LA wins cup #2 without Carter. He arguably could have won the Conn Smythe. (any of the 4 could have).

So....BOB RYAB signed an extension?
I read it was always his dream to retire an Ottawa Senator.

Carter was a big part of those teams. Take him away and I doubt they win those Cups. It's possible but every part of a team plays a role and Carter's was a large one. |

That might be a tad harsh.
More like the version that came out of retirement after failing at baseball and wore #45. |

We should officially retire BOB RYAB. We can have a huge ceremony and everything. |

Honestly, I kinda agree with MJL on this one. You seem to really trying to find a way to bash Carter here. Last year in the playoffs he meant as much to the Kings as anyone.
I wouldn't redo those trades, if only because they handed the team to G and got back some great players. But Carter has turned into an All-Star forward. Seems he got a Gold medal in Sochi and not Giroux. Not saying he's better than G. Just saying the hockey world thinks more highly of him than you do. |

That was my whole point earlier on the thread. Why bother with all of the roster juggling just to keep Morin for a cup of coffee in the league this year? Let him play tonight, give him a good plan for the year then send him on his way. - TheGreat28
You still have to juggle the rosters if you don't keep Morin. |

He was with the Flyers as well. Never said he wasnt. He just simply is not anywhere close to being the top player on LA or as important as at the very least 3-4 players ahead of him. Period |
