Yay Eakins now have Aulie to replace him - AlEx_OiL
are we now blaming injuries and who the players in the system are on Eakins?
seems logical |

I'd be surprised as balls if Aulie beats out Hunt for the 7 spot. Stunned as balls. Shocked as balls.

Balls. - DTF69 hunt has absolutely outplayed aulie. way more comfortable with the puck and way less of a gongshow on defence.
someone please give me a timeline on the half of our dcorp that is already injured

It saddens me that because Bollig, McGrattan, and Jones are locks because tough that Gaudreau means Sven's gonna be cut and traded. |

Maybe you know what most fans think, maybe you don't. I hear what you're saying on giving time for guys to gel, but how much of a gain was that in the lockout season for the Oil? I read an interview earlier to he point that the first 20 games of the season are a warm up for everyone anyways.
I don't think MacT's made any real mistakes. He didn't find a 2c, but he probably dodged bullets on the only crap deals that were available to him. No. 1 D men aren't exactly readily available. He ditched Smid which while I didn't like at the time now think was the right move. He signed some top 2-4 dmen in the off season and gave the D a chance to have mostly NHL players on it for the first time in years, and making the prospects fight their way in. added size in the top 6 without screwing us on the cap ceiling...
You're entitled to your opinion, but I don't get it
edit: the tkachev thing wasn't his fault, but it was the fault of a guy he trusts. - BigDre
Well, I agreed that MacT made some positive moves. I'm expecting to see Pouliot do well and maybe Purcell also, but we know how frustrated TB fans were with him, so we'll see if a fresh start helps his game. Damned glad Clarkson didn't take MacT's offer last year.
I agree also that our Goal is better than with Dubs in there, but the jury is still out as to whether either is a genuine starter.
There wasn't much available on D last summer so MacT improved us there. Never understood the Aulie signing; he's been ineffective thus far in his career. Also puzzled over Nikitin's signing---he sat a lot late last year.
Hell, I want to be optimistic. I'm heading down for 2 games in November and will take my Hall & Nuge jerseys---will wear 1 each game.
Hoping for the young guns to take another step this year. If our D prospects don't improve much, we might have to look to FAs next summer.
Anyway, regarding your comment about the first 20 games, when you're in a rebuild like us, every point is important. I am really hoping for a 500 or better start in October but if we aren't firing on all cylinders at the start, that might be hoping for too much. |

Or so says the Twitter.
I haven't actually heard anything recent about Ference's injury and I think Petry coming back within the week would be 80% Petry according to Twitter yesterday
Nikitin could probably be sooner if the swelling isn't that bad or if they don't find anything worse when they reevaluate him |

That's why he'll be cut. Burke teams can't sacrifice players like Bollig and McGrattan for real hockey players.
He'll have to beat out Gaudrea because something like Raymond-Backlund-Hudler-Stajan-Glencross-Jones-Monahan-Setoguchi-Bouma-Colborne is taking up 10 of 12 spots. |

I think you're missing the point....I want a 4th line with guys like Bouma, McGrattan, Bollig. I don't want Sven Baertschi anywhere near there. Jones and Setoguchi can take a hike, but for the most part the rest of the guys deserve to be there. If Sven can't beat a guy like Jones out then he should be in the AHL anyway. |

No, your missing the point. Why do you want a 4th line of face punchers instead of hockey players? They do t help the outcome of the game. |

First of all I think Bollig and Bouma are more than face punchers. McGrattan....well you might be right. But he can play a shift. I think having those guys on a young team like the Flames is important. It makes them play bigger knowing they have some back up out there. Believe it or not but it actually does have a big influence. |

Considering the Flames spent time in camp teaching fighting, I think that they expect to be able to UFC their way into the playoffs by punching pucks into the net and winning the punchCorsi |

This is such (frank)ing horsepoop.
I'm sure Gaudreau won't be worried about getting tagged because if he gets smacked by Dustin Brown then McGrattan will go fight Jordan Nolan and make the world right.
The Flames aren't even that young, especially up front. Only Gaudreau, Sven and Monahan are young. And only 2 will find themselves on the roster
Lots of teams have big bad players because "protection" but it didn't get the Leafs into the playoffs or the Oilers or the Isles or Sabres. |
