amazing that this comes up whenever the Gazdic debate arises

very dumb. I know when I played the people who were "tougher to play against" were the ones that would light up the scoreboard not the ones that would punch my team's face puncher

Lol the "i have no idea how to make a real argument reply"

Up into junior. The meathead we had on our team didn't stop the other team from playing us hard and heavy. Controlling the puck and controlling the play did.

Least favourite guys to play against were good puck handlers/protectors. Because you're chasing them and you get tired as (frank).

I actually enjoyed the dummies because you just would come in on the inside usually, take the puck and they spend the next shift chasing. Unless it was the one in fifty shift they had their skills working

It's nice to know in the back of your mind that you have guys on your team that will have your back. You can call it bullpoop or whatever you want but I know what it's like. Not trying to be all high and mighty or anything like, just trying to call it like it is. If you don't think it has an effect I think you've got your head in the sand. It's a physical game and intimidation is definitely a factor out there.

The intimidating teams were the winning teams. Not the ones that would hit and try to fight.

Having one guy on your team doesn't make a difference really you're right, but when they are throughout your lineup the whole team plays bigger. Guy's like Bolling, Engelland, Bouma, and McGrattan .

It's not about winning fights or trying to fight or anything like that. But when a kid like Gaudreau has the peace of mind knowing his team mates will be there for him he's more free to do what makes him successful.

Gazdic is a good fighter and a tough kid. But I think he's a little less skilled than McGrattan in terms of the actual game. And way behind a guy like Bollig.

Yeah, the guys on the third pair and fourth line scare the poop out of the other team. The guys at the top of the lineup really know they're safe when meat is on the bench. No team would ever dare to take a run and fear that a 6minute a night player will chase them around for a shift and take a bad penalty. Really makes them pay

Haha...you're taking everything way too literally. Anyway, all I know is that when I played it made me feel a lot better knowing my team was going to fold when push came to shove.

If you think Bollig and Bouma are wasted spots you're kidding yourself. They have roles and the play them well.

And why do you need some face punching goon to feel that? When I play, my team feels the most "unified" when we're winning the game and scoring. We fight our own battles regardless of our size cause that's what a team does. You don't rely on your big friend to cover for you; you get off your ass and stick it to the guy in a way he can't match. Maybe it's different at the professional level, but I haven't seen any hard evidence proving that to be the case.

First of all I think Bollig and Bouma are more than face punchers. McGrattan....well you might be right. But he can play a shift. I think having those guys on a young team like the Flames is important. It makes them play bigger knowing they have some back up out there. Believe it or not but it actually does have a big influence.

This sounds like an exact quote from Habs fans when they signed Laraque a few years ago....and that worked out great.

Didn't do much. Hell that jets defense looked horrible. Horrible.

I don't tell people that any more. Some old guy got mad at me a month ago.

Really didn't seem to be too fond of his dead wife.
