I hear this comparison a lot, but honestly, no one should care which player is better. Both are elite offensive centers with strong leadership qualities. I don't think, if placed on two identical teams, one player would make that team noticeably better than the other player would.

He's a veteran beat guy with a known name. That's what Comcast SportsNet has done. They find a veteran writer, toss cash at him and call him an insider. Did it with Ruben Frank, Panotch and Salisbury.

It's good for getting quotes and news, but not really analysis.

I think it's up to each individual what they care about. And I think Giroux is slighted on that list. And the reason is that Giroux has carried the Flyers on his back. He has elevated his game in the playoffs in the past. Taveras, though he hasn't had that opportunity, has not. And it remains to be seen if Taveras can match what Giroux has done in the games that mean the most.
