they gave up a non nhler for an nhler. They're in win now mode. Losing Pokka is tough but considering how badly they were hurting on D last year I'd say its worth especially since the rest of the deal is just meh.

I think Boychuk on the Islanders will be just like Ference signing with the Oilers -- he'll disappear and look like a journeyman defenseman that's forced into a bigger role on a team with less talented players.

Still feel that Halak and that defense will be issues that will lead that Islanders' to be in the top five.

Despite the nice moves, it's still going to be tough for them to make the playoffs.

Pittsburgh, Philly, Columbus (with Johansen) seem like playoff locks. Then you got the caps, leafs, flyers and red wings who will probably be right there with the isles for those wild card spots.

You know you will suck when have 35 year old Gionta on your top line .

he would be 3rd or 4th line on other teams right now .. he is not the same player he was ..
