I am surprised Edmonton didn't make a push for either Boychuk or Leddy. - classic321
Why?
Neither are top pair guys. And that would be the only thing we would trade for. |

Sadly no, but I'll be watching it over a beer. Very interested to see how both sides line up, and to see whether the wholesale changes will result in any improvement in results (I've yet to see a preseason game for either club). |

Telus is advertising the game as From Las Vegas Nevada on the guide.
Nice moves by the Islanders today.
I don't see any indication of what the final roster will be on opening night. Looks like he made the first line from memory and then threw darts to find the following lineup. |

Both the Canucks and isles will likely make it back to the playoffs this year. A rematch of 82 is unlikely but would be pretty cool |

looks like VAN's A lineup against a pretty soft EDM team. I imagine nucks fans will still raid the oilers threads when the sedins score against Brad Hunt and Will Acton - TheNugeIsHuge
I'm sure we'll be inundated with brainiacs questioning why Kassian wont fight your goon squad. |

Looking forward to seeing the Nux against the western elite to see how far along the team's come. Don't see Anaheim, Chicago, st Louis, L.A., or San Jose as being better than last season. Minnie and Dallas improved the most of the rest. Canucks have a real shot at getting back into the playoff dance.
This is how Ic it panning out.
1. St Louis
2. San Jose
3. Chicago
4. Anaheim
5. Edmonton
6. L.A.
7. Minnesota
8. Dallas - kaptaan

How much ownership involvement was there in Torts' hiring and Lu's contract? - hillbillydeluxe
I didnt ask any questions at all but here's what I was told.
1. Gillis wanted to fire Torts back in January. I find it believable. Nothing on his firing but its likely that FA pushed for Torts to be hired.
2. Gillis wanted to fire AV but wasnt allowed. I call BS on this. FA was not supportive of all for AV when Gillis was hired.... Gillis convinced FA to keep AV at a time when Quenville was available.
3. Gillis wanted to trade Kesler long before he requested a trade. Again I call BS. He would be trading down most likely while the Canucks were contenders... traded Cody and drafted Schroeder. If its true, he was looking at failing big time. No mention of a potential deal or a discussion with Kesler... Gillis claimed he would never request waiving of NTC's to these team leaders so... makes no sense one way or the other.
4. Wanted to trade Luongo before he requested a trade himself. Owner said no. . Again, the NTC was something Gillis claimed he wouldnt dishonor.... but with the emergence of Schneider it did make sense to have done it.... Im on the fence on this one but the one comical quote was "I spent more time negotiating with Mrs. Luongo than his agent".
Does this not sound familiar? He said the same thing about Hodgson's father when he was under a lot of fan and media pressure for that trade. Almost word for word actually and it was denied by both Hodgson and agent. Think about it... how unprofessional is that.... letting someones wife/father do all the talking?
One thing that is clear to me, the owner is too involved and Gillis is definitely using rumors in the media to cover his pathetic ass. There was not a single mention of Gillis admitting he made poor choices. Just throwing people under the bus as usual. |
