Definitely agree with that. I can't see them regressing to the point where they don't make the play-offs. They are a solid and exciting squad with 4 potential 40 goal scorers (O'Reilly, Landaskog, Duchene, MacKinnon). Barrie is coming into his own and that power play is going to be lethal. Varlamov has steadied himself since coming from Washington and seems to have worked on his flexibility/core, so that he hasn't been injured the past few years.
And of course the Wild Card of Patrick Roy - so far so good.
The rest of the D isn't exactly a mess - Johnson is solid, Hejda is very steady. The rest of the D - I believe everyone was a plus for the year, me thinks that's pretty decent defending (which of course always starts with the goaltender, however) - Zogg
A new coach and new system sure helped those kids be a top 5 team last year, but maybe I'm putting to much into coach and system. |

It might have more to do with McKinnon Duchene and Landeskog in the top 6 instead of Burrows Higgins than it does with Roy or Desjardins. |

No, I think you're right. Patrick Roy is turning out to be at the very least a great motivator (go figure lol) and no doubt he has learned a thing or two about coaching both from his playings days and then being behind the bench of the Remparts. Patrick Roy, whatever you may think of him, has thus far injected a lot of energy and confidence in this squad, I think players want to and like to play for him.
From my disdain of Roy during the years (my Dad and I were Bruins fans, yes, don't kill me) of the classic Montreal and Boston wars, I've really started to like the guy. He's always great for a quote and says what he wants.
In particular, I believe I read? a while ago that he was asked in a press conference what he thought of the $50,000 fine he had to pay for some alledged incident (not sure what it was) and he said "That was the best money I ever spent' If he said that then ...

It's funny because I was a big Avs fan yet I have always been more of a Brodeur guy myself

I believe he got fined for knocking the partition that separates the teams over during a game against Anaheim and yelling obscenties at Boudreau

Certainly 180 degree polar opposites in both style and personality. Some great wars during that era |

Landeskog, Duchene, Stastny and O'Reilly were in their top six when they finished second last two years ago and ended up drafting MacKinnon 1st overall...just sayin. |

Found this while reading this morning.
"For all the “by the numbers” talk that Oilers fan should take note of it should be the number of 1st round picks the team will be icing this year. The Oilers will ice ten, you heard me, ten 1st round picks to start the season! Let that sink in. That number breaks down to eight forwards and two defenseman in Klefbom (19th overall, 2011) and Nurse (7th overall, 2013). Dont believe the stat? Here are the forwards"
Leon Draisaitl – 3rd overall, 2014
Jordan Eberle – 22nd overall, 2008
Boyd Gordon – 17th overall, 2002
Taylor Hall – 1st overall, 2010
Ryan Nugent-Hopkins – 1st overall, 2011
David Perron – 26th overall, 2007
Benoit Pouliot – 4th overall, 2005
Nail Yakupov – 1st overall, 2012

Canucks have four regulars by comparison, but they're all as old as me. We need some more first rounders!!!
Henrik, Daniel, Hamhuis, Kassian.

Jackets signed Johansen

Interesting numbers.Didn't see a 3 yr deal coming. @Aportzline: Johansen terms: $3M in 2014-15, $3M in 2015-16 and $6M in 2016-17. |

Good deal for both, Johansen saves face by getting that 6M number and CLB knows he will be worth it in 3 years so not really overpayment. 4M cap hit is pretty nice too. He might struggle out the gate but I think he has at least 30g 30a again. |

No kidding. Hands down the longest draft I've heard of.
Last I heard he was waiting for KB3 and someone else to indicate who they wanted to drop but at this point, if they are not responding, drop someone for them and move on. They're clearly not that interested. |

Interested or not, drop their lowest ranked player and move forward. I have players to drop and others to add but can't do anything until we hit the start button! |

Two of them were signed as UFA's, I don't think they should count. Anyone can sign a UFA. |
