What I would like to know, is what is the dynamic if that is the proper word, for a team in a game 7, to come out and basically stop playing and stop skating like they did in the 2nd period of game 7. I can't even come up with a theory on it. It's unfathomable to think that could happen like it did. No way it should happen. Being outplayed b a better team is one thing, and the Rangers were the better team. But the Flyers laid down in the 2nd period. - MJL
B/c as I was chastised for saying a last week ( I think) the team that wanted it more, won that series. |

We have their entire catalog. Including live at the BBC and the Anthologies. My goal is to have all their vinyl.
There's a book we have that dives into EVERY SINGLE recording session they had. It's awesome. Pictures of the tapes and Martin's scribbled notes...everything from a page an a half for 1 session (i.e. the Please Please Me marathon) to just one or 2 lines (i.e. "general mixing for...")
Read that cover to cover. That poop was awesome. - Giroux_Is_God
I have the Anthology book, and a couple of books about the later days. I'm more into the music, I just have no where to store it. |

I was reading your comments about the organization installing that in the players and if I'm interpreting that right, your attitude has to be in tune with what is wanted then everything else. IMO I see what they are doing with a guy like Rinaldo who riddled with warts, yet still has that bring your lunchbox to work mentality. They give him some leeway when the rest of the league would prolly say kick rocks. |

Solid list. I can see bumping Hendrix down a few pegs simply because his body of work isn't big enough. I like Jeff Beck a lot. Underrated guy imo, Mark Knopfler. |

I think you are thinking in the right direction. His work ethic does not waver. In games, or from what's said in practice. But that brings up another example to look at. Really instead of the coaches reeling in Rinaldo when he goes off, it should be his teammates doing it. And demanding that it has to stop. It's kind of like peer pressure to do good, instead of doing mischief. |

Page-May were the two hardest for me. I wish Page had better singers on his solo album from 1988 or 89, "Outrider" some good stuff, but the vocals were really hit or miss |

Definitely. Not a huge fan myself of Page's non Zeppelin work. May is great. Queen is one of the best bands of all time imo. |

Well I'm thinking the mindset of hextall is to get these guys in the mindset of the Keenan era, the Only way I can describe that is; think Pete rose on ice. Hustle hustle hustle, work, sleep eat, more hustle. I even once heard Pat Croce say that Dave Poulin was the hardest working athlete he encountered and I have to say it showed. Back in those days it always felt like anything was possible. I think that's the mindset and template they want. |

Actually, I wrote about the organization installing that.
The hard working lunch pail stuff is admirable, but it's one facet. To me the discipline aspect is every but as important, playing the right way. Rinaldo is a perfect example of the developmental aspect I think the Flyers lose sight of. They had Carcillo, who had worn out his welcome, and figured, we have Rinaldo.
The problem is, Rinaldo was an undisciplined hot head in juniors, an undisciplined hot head in the AHL and was never really held up or had it beaten in his head at a lower level. He had one full season in the AHL. Had the Flyers not immediately sent him to the NHL, maybe he learns to play a more disciplined, all around game at the AHL level and avoids his NHL reputation.
To me, a team can start instilling accountability with a strong developmental system, and then it's something that's ingrained as guys progress, rather than have to hope guys pick it up and show it when they're thrust into positions of leadership |
