I'm guessing the defense will be:
Myers,Meszaros,Gorges,Benoit,Weber,Pysyk,Ristolainen? - Sabresfan-365
8 defensemen at practice this morning: Benoit, Gorges, Meszaros, Myers, Ristolainen, Strachan, Weber, Zadorov. #Sabres

Still injured? - jochfr
yup forgot, guessing Zadorov/strachan may stay up till he's healthy. I think they are at the roster limit right now |

He'll be on one of the top 2 lines... At least for the first two weeks.
Line 4 at the end of the month. - jochfr
Yeah I was hoping he'd have a fire in him this year like he did when Colorado traded him to us and he was a point a game player. |

Guess it goes back to all the banter that the number 2 pick needs to be here . I would rather Reinhart go back to junior now and Grigerenko gets rewarded for his new work ethic and on ice performance. - Maximum Signal
I was a big fan of grigo playing most, if not all of the season in Rochester...he could use a little stability |

Where is Stewart slotted to play this year? He is still available on waivers in my fantasy league and I think if he is guaranteed some ice time he might score 30 goals this year.
Edit: never mind I see above. He apparently isn't in the top 6. I think I'll pass on him. - cuethenoise
Third line with some young but promising line mates.

Sounds about right, I assume those two will go back at some point. |

I'm disappointed by the move, and I can't imagine how Grigo feels.
The Sabres talked the talk all through the preseason. Grigo walked the walk.
If Reinhart stays up, even for only 9 games, its a bitter pill. - Der Kaiser
I liked what Grigorenko did in the preseason, but it was just that: preseason. I can't fault them for wanting to see him in a real situation, even in the AHL, before being absolutely convinced.
I also didn't think the gap between Grigorenko and Reinhart really was that wide. Grigorenko looked more "exciting" because we've seen what a disaster he was over the past two years. Reinhart has looked much, much better than Grigorenko did the past two years. I held since the beginning of training camp that Reinhart should or should not be given his nine game tryout based on his own merit, and not what Grigorenko or anyone else does. And that's exactly what the Sabres are doing. |

even with this dumb a$$, calls mostly in their favor and facing a qb who was on his sofa this summer, the lions still couldn't win |

We're going to have a competition for jobs this year. And if you dare win it, we're going to send you down anyways.
Murray and Nolan are huge hypocrites. I hope Grigo bolts to the KHL to teach them that if they give their word, they need to honor it. What a joke. What a joke. |

not looking for a fight, but just what did reinhart do on his own merit to warrant a nine-game look |

He didn't look out of place, made smart plays, decent playmaking. He didn't light it up, but I think he did enough to warrant the 9 game look. But I have to assume that unless he elevates his game in that time he'll be sent back. |

Orton's veteran presence is essentially what won that game for them, or at least "didn't lose" it. You could tell he even shook that pick 6, which was horrendous, off almost immediately. |

although not as ticked as you are, it does seem like reinhart getting his look was a foregone conclusion |

Are we not sure that Reinhart does nine games and then the Sabres pull the switcharoo? |

I thought he looked good, though not spectacular. He didn't light up the scoresheet, but he didn't make too many bonehead plays either. He did just enough to make me intrigued to see what he would do when the stakes came for real, especially in a "throw away year" like this one.
That being said, I wasn't really implying that he should or shouldn't stay (though that's what I would like to see). My point was that if the Sabres did feel he was good enough to get the nine game look see, Grigorenko's (or anyone else's) emergence shouldn't change that plan. The idea is to evaluate the kid. |

At the end of the day, I thought Grigorenko and Reinhart looked good, but not spectacular. Grigorenko looked a lot better than he has, but he didn't exactly light up the scoreboard either. He's definitely on the right track, though, for sure. |
