Nope.
Played in the preseason and now requires surgery. Injured players can't be sent down.
If it was from before, Calgary screwed the pooch as they should have shut him down in the offseason.
They now burn a year if he goes under the knife. - dadeadhead
Just curious. Can they just send him down now and have Kingston place him on their injury list? |

Nope.
Injured on NHL time.
Kind of like when an AHL player gets hurt on call up.
Unless they do a little rule changing to help Calgary out. |

Didn't Zadorov stay here longer than nine games, but played less than that during the year? That didn't burn a year of his, did it? |

He goes on IR for Calgary. However it doesn't burn a year of his contract since he has to dress for 10 games for his contract year to kick in. He will still get paid, but as long as he is on IR he won't count against the player count for Calgary. |

It counts as full pay thus eliminating the ELSR for the year.
It's a 3yr deal(with 2 ELSR yrs), if he gets his full pay(for the season), it then becomes a two year deal with one ELS yr left.
If it doesn't count it's something the NHL amends. |

According to the article above, he was sent down on November 19th. They had played more than nine games by then. |

(d) (i) In the event that an 18 year old or 19 year old Player signs an SPC with a
Club but does not play at least ten (10) NHL Games in the first season
under that SPC, the term of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry
Level System shall be extended for a period of one (1) year, except that
this automatic extension will not apply to a Player who is 19 according to
Section 9.2 by virtue of turning 20 between September 16 and December
31 in the year in which he first signs an SPC. Unless a Player and Club
expressly agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an
additional year in accordance with this subsection, all terms of the SPC,
with the exception of Signing Bonuses, but including Paragraph 1 Salary,
games played bonuses and Exhibit 5 bonuses, shall be extended; provided,
however, that the Player's Paragraph 1 Salary shall be extended in all
circumstances.
In the event that a Player signs his first SPC at age 18 and has had his SPC
extended pursuant to Subsection (i), and such Player does not play at least
ten (10) NHL Games in the second season under that SPC, then the term
of his SPC and his number of years in the Entry Level System shall be
extended for one (1) additional year. Unless a Player and Club expressly
agree to the contrary, in the event a Player's SPC is extended an additional

Then thats more things the NHL has gotten wrong IMO.
Zadorov was here for 31 days last year.
Didn't something similar happen to Grigorenko where they deemed team games played as counting against him thus screwing Buffalo. Same thing happened to Matteau in NJ that season. |

Then why did Mattau(sp?) get screwed by team games played 2 yrs ago?

That was for the Traverse City tournament that he couldn't play in.
Grigorenko did burn a year as he played more than 9 games last year. In the short season he played 25 games and last year he played 18.
Matteau played in 17 NHL games in 2012-2013. |

I would guess that because Grigorenko and Mattau were both on the active roster for over 20 some games that's why. Technically, Bennett isn't going to be on the active roster (the 23 max players teams can carry) because he'll be on IR so that's where the difference lies. |

Total value of the contract is 3yrs 9.675 mil.
His Salary is 3yrs at 2.775 with 92,500 being a signing bonus for slide rule purposes.
If he is on the roster the entire year (injured) he will make $925k thus taking the total salary of his deal to 1.850.
He loses a year on the contract then. It doesn't slide.
