I am officially climbing out of the rabbit hole that I have sworn not to go down again.
Anybody else think that the Bruins are going to struggle for offensive flow tonight? - AllInForFlyers
Depends whether they're stocked up on tampons or not. |

I think this is a winnable game tonight. Getting 2 points against Boston on the road would be huge. The other Metro teams are likely going to see Krejci when they travel to Boston. |

They could. Krejci is their main offensive catalyst. They have some good, talented players who can certainly light the lamp, but Krejci really drives the train for them. - Jsaquella
Their power play could struggle some, I think -- they do have talent, but it's fairly young. I don't fear Spooner-Bergeron-Soderberg nearly as much as Krejci-Bergeron-Soderberg.

You don't think Iginla being gone, as well as Krejci, doesn't hurt?
Yes, I'm wanting it to be true -- would love to get off to a good start tonight. - AllInForFlyers
It does hurt, but our defense is not the ideal one to bring them to task on those absences. |

Poor Chris Pronger so wants to retire
How can Mr. Pronger retire?
Can he retire if he is on fire?
Can he retire while watching The Wire?
Can he retire and not perspire?
So many ways for Chris to retire
He can retire while changing a tire
He can retire and still be a Flyer
He can retire while we conspire
Poor Chris Pronger so wants to retire. |

Yeah...I kinda keep trying to forget about how the defense could look on a bad night and am, shall we say, whistling past the graveyard and thinking that they're going to look airtight.
What can I say? I'm a fan. If I can't believe that they're gonna pull it together on Opening Night, when can you believe?

Make sure you bring back a report on how much pace Laughton plays with -- I still think that is something that he can/will improve upon, over time |

I think the solution is to create a "bonafide career-ending injury" exemption to the salary cap rules for over-35 contracts that a) still counts against the upper limit (so it's still accounted for leaguewide, ala the compliance buyouts) and b) eliminates the annual cap-related LTIR charade for a player like Pronger. - bmeltzer
The solution I've always seen is this:
A) Player suffers career ending injury.
B)Player legally acknowledges that their NHL career is over.
C)Team is freed of the cap hit. But must still pay the player the full remainder of the contract.
And in the unlikely event a player should ever attempt to make a comeback in the NHL they must play at a lower, fixed rate determined by the league and must re-sign with their former team, unless said team is not interested. |

From Luke Schenn's trainer, apparently he's been working on his overall game and not just conditioning this summer

Well thats something, anyway. I know it was mentioned in reports that he had been working on his skating this summer. We'll see if it makes a difference. |

That is a sensible and logical solution.
However, sadly, the NHL has no interest in sensible and logical solutions.

yet another list of 10!
10 crazy things that I hope happens during this season!!
1. Gary Bettman is captured by flying monkeys and returned to Munchkinland in the land of Oz.
He's replaced by Jim Ballsillie who moves teams to/expands in Toronto, Hamilton, Saskatoon, Quebec and Mississauga
2. Pierre McGuire finally admits his love for Crosby to the world at large, they move to San Francisco and we all get invited to the wedding.
Marios kids interupt the wedding and accuse Sid of molesting them, he eventually goes to jail.
3. James Neal and Matt Cooke are involved in a mid ice collision and both are forced to retire from the injuries that they sustain.
They sue each other and get into a crutch fight at trial.
4. Satan rises up from hell and admits that he is the true owner of the NY Rangers.
He sells to Charles Wang.
5. Craig Berube snaps at a post game press conference and knocks Panaccio out cold.
Frank screams like a girl and Sam starts to cry uncrontrolably.
6. The Toronto Maple Leafs finish dead last and lose the draft lottery. Shanahan is fired and replaced by Carrot Top. Leafs ownership express their excitement in the clubs new direction.
They win the cup in 2016
7. Brian Burke trades for Jay Rosehill, Jon Scott and signs Mike Tyson. He then builds a time machine and takes them all back 40 years to 1974. The Flames still can't beat the Flyers in the 1st round.
Burke sells the Delorean to Pat Quinn who drives it to the presnt and punches him in the face.
8. We find out that Ed Snider actually died in 1998 when Ron Hextall beheads him with a goalie stick and sparks and wires spring out of his neck. Hextall says, "Hey, killing an android is not technically a crime and besides, he insisted I trade Morin, Ghost and Laughton to Winnipeg for Byfuglien.
He then trades them for Evander Kane
9. LA goes on to win another cup. Mike Richards still doesn't crack a smile.
He does crack the Toronto lineup the following season as their number one center. Celebrates their cup win in a dour mood.
10. Travis Sanheim scores 70 goals and 190 points in the WHL. He also finishes +90 and logs the most minutes on Canada's championship World Junior Squad. OB still insists that he needs another year of Junior.
He's right as Hextall sends another prospect to juniors to be safe after the Flyers finish out of the playoffs and draft 12th. Just out of reach of the good prospects.
Is it game time yet???
