Schenn seems to play better the more minutes he gets. - MBFlyerfan

He did. I mean he has the capacity for it...we've seen it. Many more people felt optimistic about that trade at the end of Schenns first year. |

That's my biggest reason for "pessimism"
I think the Pens win the division. Carolina finishes last. You could roll the other teams in a Yahtzee cup and I'd probably say, "Yeah, that wouldn't surprise me." People could make valid arguments for any of the other teams finishing anywhere between the Pens and Canes. - Jsaquella
I actually have the Rangers winning the East overall. They're going into their second season with Alain Vigneault behind the bench. A full season with Martin St Louis. I think their defense might be the best right now and throw in Henrik Lundqvist. Nash is healthy.
The Penguins will still be the Penguins but overrated this year. Boston has seriously downgraded. |

Ugh nbcsn just showed clip on Justin Williams. Awesome he got his third cup, bad he was on another team every time. I am glad Hextall so far is willing to be patient. So sick of the flyers trading young guys. |

I absolutely did -- he was freaking good that year. Not just "fan bias" good. He played like a legitimate Top 4 defenseman.
I didn't think he was awful last year. He was just so very average that you had to try real hard to remember where the upside was.

It also shows you the cost of adding a good, solid defenseman to your mix. - Jsaquella
OTOH
Moving guys like Boychuk and Leddy for picks and prospects is how good GMs keep restocking talent and keep their teams competitive year in and year out.
The trick, of course, will be one day replacing the Toews, Kanes, Charas and Bergerons... |

i think the Habs really exposed the Bruins last year. I wonder if Chara is on the decline or it's just an aberration. |

Chara was still a nominee for the Norris. He may play shorter minutes and isn't getting any younger but he's still a beast.
The Habs on the other hand seem to heavy in relying on Subban and Price in the playoffs. I have them missing the playoffs this year. |

The reality is that Chiarelli's gamble to sign Iginla last year, and give him that big bonus softie in his contract is why Boychuk was traded. Otherwise, Boychuk is still a Bruin. I don't think he wanted to trade him, he had to choose somebody to trade. |

I think having 8 NHL dmen (4 RH'ers) under contract may have played into as well. |

Why yes, I did mute this (frank).
And his fistpumps are stupid.
And his bowties are dumb.
And so are his suits.
And his mustache is subsatisfactory as well.
