Yeah, that was a good sign. They had good effort and create some chances. Didn;t get sustained pressure enough, but a lot of that seemed to be a pass that just missed here or a guy turning wrong there.
It's an encouraging effort. They got work to do, but there's some good things to take from tonight - Jsaquella
One thing I noticed is that the Flyers seemed to possess the puck more than last year. I mean actual possession not Corsi possession. They attempted to carry the puck into the zone more than before. There wasn't a lot of dumping and chasing. |

I gotta go with Bergey. He was all over the place tonight. Mase was outstanding, but Jesus, Bergeron was just fantastic - Jsaquella

Great point.
Bellemare got spotted on the first line tonight. I haven't back read and would be surprised if that wasn't discussed.

It was after the double icing with the second PP unit which has Schenn on it, so I wouldn't think much of it. |

Bellemare was only out there with the first line because Schenn changed earlier and was caught on on the long shift with a few icings.

Playing an entire game against him and Chara must be physically and mentally exhausting. |

Yeah, there was a lot of times they could have made a simple dump, but went with the carry in. It was effective. They got outplayed for stretches, but I'm content. They got to work out the kinks. |

The Flyers gave a solid effort tonight. Once the offense clicks, they'll win a lot of games with that effort. - MJL
Agreed. I was definitely happy with the effort.

Yeah. There are some really good things to take away from the game though. It just sucks to lose a game when they had at least 1 point staring them in the face. |

After the first period, I was honestly quite pleased with the overall effort as well. Still, a few too many lapses, but that was not unexpected, at least by me.
I would've like to have seen a few more quality shots at Rask. |

It's just tough sledding -- in that last minute, the Flyers would've gotten at least two more scoring chances against the vast majority of defensemen in the league
That big bastard just snuffed them out -- gotta be one of the two or three best free agent signings in NHL history

Ryan Joekel from Moose Jaw. Solid puck handler. Terrific shot. Great speed. Great leader. Played for Team Canada in WJC. Knits sweaters. Can juggle knives. |

PEB and Coots lines in particular were very good w/ puck management. Vinny's line was up and down.

Yup.....they will, but they will also lose games like tonight if they continue to handle the puck like a granade in their own end.....just not sound fundamentally as the top teams. |
