Don't get me wrong. I expect them to tread water and end up in 9th or 10th. Their draft pick isn't going to get the Sabres McDavid or Eichel. - buffalofan19
Agreed, I think they are a bubble team. I just find it hilarious how good Johnny Boychuk is all of the sudden. According to the Isles bloggers/writers/fans he himself secures them into the playoffs.
IMO the Isles off season is very similar to the Sabres of 2011-2012
Added some decent pieces, but nothing that puts them into contending status. Only big difference is they have an elite player in Tavares |

I'd expect them to be in that 8-12 category when it comes to picks....Buffalo will pick 2nd to 6th....I wouldn't be shocked if they use both of their picks to move up to 1 or 2 |

I got a text from my brother in law this morning:
"I'm very conflicted about this season"
My reply:
"We want them to win tonight, win every game against the Leafs, Bruins, and Islanders and then lose every game 5-4 the rest of the way."
Sound about right? |

I know. I'm going to be one of them.
Darcy Regier put them in a position where getting #1 or #2 is almost a necessity. |

I think they're going to be better, but how much is going to depend on two things.
1. Goaltending. This is the biggest wildcard IMO.
2. Scoring. I think they'll be better, but I don't know if it's going to be enough to get them out of the basement.
So, depending on how you look at that, either we could end up with good goaltending but terrible scoring and lose games 2-1 a lot like last year. Or we end up with high scoring games that the goaltending is terrible in and lose games 5-4.
Best case scenario for the team, they get good goaltending and the scoring improves. But even in this scenario, I see a lot of 3-2 losses. I just don't think they have quite what it takes to be competitive for the entire season.
Thus, I still think they'll be a bottom 5 team.

I remembered he was hurt because it happened right around the same time as Staal. It stuck out in my head because it's weird for 2 of that type of injury to happen that close together.
That's not an injury that happens that much in hockey. |

Not sure if it's cool to post here or not but here it goes (since we have two refs in here right now one of you guys can delete it if need be).
I was looking to find Gamecenter cheaper than the $100 price tag and came across this at Slickdeals.
Got so more posts saying that the $75 price is indeed possible. If you're not getting it through Russia, try Romania or any other eastern-European location.
---
Looks like Russian's no longer get a special price. If someone finds a country with a lower price I'll be sure to post it but for now it seems it's a flat $100 for any location other than US. The best that can be done now as far as what I'm seeing in this thread is either $90 using the discover card 10%. The NHL Code is also apparently US only so the best price there would be $135 ($119 hypothetically with discover). Sorry all! Original post follows.
---
Now, I didn't have the latter two so I paid $75 for the season. That's still a pretty good deal for me anyways though.bounce
As for being russian, that's ridiculously easy if you have the chrome browser. Just get Hola ( https://chrome.google.com/webstor...klfbnlmeio ) Open a new tab, select Russia, google/navigate to NHL Gamecenter, and bam. You should see NHL Gamecenter for $75. I paid via paypal but I imagine the regular form is also indiscriminate.
Also protip: If you want to go the extra mile and circumnavigate the blackouts (of your local market teams) you can get https://adfreetime.com/ for $2 a month. However that (avoiding blackouts) is actually covered by their terms of service (and by covered I mean you'll get a $100 ETF) so tread lightly.
Also bonus: NFL [nfl.com] also offers a similar service to game center except theirs is absolutely banned in the US. It's called gamepass [nfl.com] and it's $100 for a single team or $130 for the season (minus playoffs+superbowl) or $200 for absolutely everything. You can also use Hola to get it but you'll probably want to have ADT [adfreetime.com] to actually enjoy it.
Also goods news everyone: Hockeystreams now supports google chromecast [hockeystreams.com]. Hockeystreams [hockeystreams.com] is the alternative to Gamecenter and it is $100 (until Sept. 13) for one year. It offers any and all games (across multiple leagues, not just NHL) with very very little delay (anecdotal: GC has 30~90s delays, HS has 1~3s). So if you want to watch blacked out games (without risking the wrath of the TOS), other leagues, or be as close to live as possible and don't mind paying an extra $25 then this would be your deal.
Russia isn't working right now but Romania is...

I think I like the idea of the Hockeycast option better, since it supports chromecast and has other leagues like the AHL, OHL and WHL |
