A defense core of MacDonald, Grossmann, Schenn, Del Zotto, and Streit isn't an emergency?

Yes but he holds no allegiance to John. If Mason struggles, I blame Yoko.

The problem last night wasn't defense. The Flyers as a team defended well all game. Not saying that they played a perfect game, but they competed and played well overall. Flyers defenseman as a whole played a solid game, including the scapegoats. The problem in the game was the offense. Not enough quality chances created, and the PP was anemic. And the other big problem in the game was that the top line got severely outplayed. I don't expect that to happen too often. They were in the game with two minutes left. Just need to get more pucks to the net.

shouldve been reviewed and disallowed for a high something and resulted in a flyers 2-man advantage IMHO

Good thing is... Offense is not something to be worried about with this team. So far the outlook is good. I'm optimistic about this season.

I thought the power play really missed Kimmo. He was so good at getting them set up. I think they missed Hartnell too. Vinny and Streit are better guys to have once everything is set up but I think Hartnell and Kimmo help the team get setup more efficiently

Way too early to come to that conclusion in my view. They were just out of sync.

Didn't Streit lead the preseason in points due to all his PP scoring?

He racked up his points in the beginning of the preseason against the lesser competition

Did I come to the right place? 15 pages and I didnt see 150 posts talking about Amac giving up the blue line too much!!!

I agree with this assessment...I hope Chief tries Bellmare on Giroux's line at wing in practice, just to see if anything sticks to the wall. I am not sure I like what I see from Schenn on that line....backchecking was non-existent.

I also don't like Read down low on the PP. He seems to get lost.
- Feanor

I'm not even sure I like Read on the Left Wing anymore 5 on 5.

All true. And The Bergeron line dominated the Giroux line in every facet of the game. Especially on faceoffs.

I think Ill give Schenn more than one game to get going. Especially since they barely got to play as a unit during the preseason.

I felt we defended well because we had to. We were out worked, too much time without the puck and not enough tap to tap passes.

Which, once again, points to the play of the forwards. They simply have to be better as a group.

Raffl needs to be better or I'd consider scrtaching him Jones. He just might not be the right guy with Vinny and Umberger.
