If your centers are Giroux, Schenn, and Couturier, which one does get the hard minutes against the other team's top players?
- eayost

It would have to be Couturier, but if you're gonna do that, at least give him two legit two-way wingers who can skate

Penn State in 2 years will be relevant again. I've been sucking it up for 3 years and will watch every game.

They haven't been atrocious though. They've been somewhat competitive despite all the poop that happened.

While I am, admittedly, not a Berube fan, it's hard to fault him with what he had to work with. His line juggling was really the catalyst that got the Flyers back into the game.

Delzotto has some good shifts then some real bad ones....they need him to play a bunch of minutes this year...that could be scary....
- landros 2

Exactly -- with Coburn out, everybody's playing too many minutes against the wrong opposition

If you add balance to each line, they can be used more interchangeably. I'm not saying to just roll the lines, but they don't have to make them as skewed as last season.

In the playoffs, Couturier's line saw 1 offensive zone face-off for every 4 defensive zone face-offs. When you see numbers like that and the QoC he played against, it's amazing to see he had 40 ES points last season.

- PhillySportsGuy

I don't know, the center is really the key forward defensively. If B Schenn doesn't become a better defensive player himself, I'm not sure any line centered by him will be super capable defensively. They've done what they've done with Couturier because it's what they've had to do to compete.

He should reshuffle the lines at the beginning of every period.

My mind just keeps reeling at the defense we saw -- Del Zotto challenged the puck carrier at the blueline two times, and the puck wound up in the back of the net both times off the same (frank)ing sequence, even though the puck carrier gave it up

That can't happen at this level

Schenn isn't good defensively, but he's not a train wreck either. I'd like to see him with two wingers who fit with him. He always gets the guys who struggle. First, it was Briere then last year, it was VL.

A lot of this is on him, but the team hasn't exactly set him up for success. He had some great stretches with Voracek two years ago and played well with Hartnell and Simmonds last year. Both of those lines were broken up in order to move Voracek and Hartnell up to the top line.

Bob McKenzie said that Pronger would remain on LTIR. Given Tim's past cap related reporting, I'm going to assume Bob is right

Nope, there isn't and without Coburn we are in deep trouble. This D was nothing special last year and now their top 2 from that core are gone and replaced with MDZ and Schultz

I'll go with this too, because I can't even comprehend what they'd do otherwise -- though I guess if Coburn's really out long-term, you could move him to LTIR
