I mean it is pretty ridiculous. People just dont want to accept that the Flyers actually have a good goalie now. People are just too used to us having it as an achilles heel. In fact I am too. Think about this. Ben Bishop... nearly 28 years old now right? Where the hell has he been?! He has one good season and now he is "elite". Give me a break. Mason deserves more credit than that guy. At least he played in the NHL as a starter for seasons. Not just a season. - GOA88
Again, I'm not necessarily agreeing with critics (I feel we're the most stable in goal we've been in…. a long long time), but Bishop hasn't had any lousy seasons either, while Mason has. If Mason repeats last year, and especially if it leads to playoffs, I think his stature around the league jumps up a lot |

I had no doubt about it. Guy with Zac's rep isn't going to get a break there - Jsaquella
They did give Zac that makeup call on Seidenberg though. I was shocked |

Still upset they didn't get 1 point from that game last night. I was sure they'd lose in a shootout like usual. |

if you trade coburn will there really be a significant differance in wins or losses by not having him on the team? they are not winning a cup anytime soon with or without coburn. I dont think coburn is the diff in them making or not making the playoffs.
if a deal is there to be made you make it sonny. i dont give him away. come the deadline you may be able to get a nice package for him from a legit contending team. - rinaldo
Yes, because then the top pairing that matches up with the opposition's best forwards at ES and on the PK will be MacDonald and Streit or MacDonald and LSchenn.
If the Flyers are out of it at the deadline then it doesn't matter, start the fire sale. But that's four or five months away, if it happens at all. |

I just like how skating up to a player is considered "roughing." - jmatchett383
It wasn't the skating up, it was the shot to the chops. If Rinaldo didn't cuff him, no penalty |

(frank) going to be rough starting 0-2 for you guys but I hope its a 2-1 game since I have Schneids, Simmonds and Giroux in my league lol - blizzzard
We'll see...about time Schneider got the nod as the full time starter. It should have come 4 years sooner but we all know what happened in Vancouver. He only played 45 games last year and severely outplayed Brodeur. He should have played 65. |

That was a bit weak, but the Bruins should have got a call later when Rinaldo got crushed by two Bruins |

I was prepared to get out with 1 point ( and be happy with that)...knowing we would loose in the shoot out |

Bishop was primarily in the AHL when Mason was having bad seasons playing 50+ games on a terrible Columbus teams. That's where most goalies should be in their early 20s. Bishop never played more than 13 NHL games in a season until last year. |

Bishop has been a AHL goalie or a backup behind a fairly good or good defense. He never had to play behind those train wreck CBJ teams. |

I have heard 70 tossed around a few times and with Clemmer as the back up it might happen haha but that should be good for the devils ! He only has one more thing to prove and that is that he can play 60+ games. Should be a good game though with you guys already getting your feet wet and likely wanting to come out hard I hope it doesnt catch us off gaurd lol |

Well, critics could argue that one good season doesn't necessarily "outdo" the seemingly lousy ones in Columbus in evaluating and making a prediction on the player. It'd be fruitless to try and convince them otherwise. All Mason can do is put together another solid season. Do it consistently, and regardless of whether he's a Flyer goalie or not, people will take notice. - eayost
I don't think he cares nor should he, but it pisses me off because it's just lazy reporting and I think Mason has progressed a lot from his play in CBJ. I suspect he could have several solid years and they still woudl say our tending is deficient.lol |

I do expect the Flyers will look better tonight. Not that they were awful last night. 2-1 loss to the presidents trophy Bruins is nothing to be ashamed of. |

I thought they did and it was offset when Luke went after the Bruin rookie bum...they both ended up with minors and a fighting major...at least that what the announces had said initially that there was already a hand up when Zac got hit... |

No for sure and I was hoping they would lose ( only because I am a Devils fan ) but I was also hoping for big nights from Giroux and Simmonds but they both have missed some time so I shouldnt be to surprised those two where pretty quiet or so the boxscore would make it seem. |

Funny thing was the ref did have his hand up for a call. BUt then there was the fight and somehow no extra penalty. |

I'll stop trying to defend Mason critics who I don't agree with lol |

Is it me or does this schedule pretty much stink for lots of teams? I looked at next weeks slate and there are a bunch of teams that have 4 games next week! You would think it was an olympic year Not sure what they schedulers were doing but it looks like there are going to be some big holes between games later in the season...it is too early to cram games in without practice IMO...let the teams work out issues before we start jamming B2B games in...just seems dumb... |

Not sure if this was discussed yet, but re: Pronger

Pronger: issue is in Article 26 of CBA. No one being paid by a team can be paid by the league. |

Hopefully our home ice advantage works out for us. Good luck to the Devils though. Hoping for a good game but wouldn't mind the Flyers winning 7-0, although that is a good game to me.
Also on Schneider, I think he'll be a Vezina finalist this year. He's a top 10, maybe top 5 goalie and I think everyone will find that out this year. |

I would'nt say Giroux was "quiet". His linemate (Schenn) was a big anchor on that line last night and the rest of the team could not get the puck to Giroux on the half wall on the PP. Bruins keyed in on Giroux. Other players will need to step up because more and more teams are realizing that if they shut Giroux down than they likely shut the Flyers offense down almost completely. |

Could have just been an error by the announcers as well...I did like Luke jumping in for him though...dropped them right away so you know they will stick up for Zac, not just some pushing and shoving to show they didn't like it...I think that is what Chief was talking about how Zac was well liked because of his hustle, seeing that showed me the guys will stick up for him if guys take a run at him, not Zac has to do his part and not take the bad penalties... |

Coburn is our best defender. Trading him for a forward is giving up on the season. - Feanor

I hope we come out with some purpose and score first. We need the 2 points for sure with Montreal coming in Saturday.. If we start 0 and 3.. yikes! panic central |
