Hopefully our home ice advantage works out for us. Good luck to the Devils though. Hoping for a good game but wouldn't mind the Flyers winning 7-0, although that is a good game to me.
Also on Schneider, I think he'll be a Vezina finalist this year. He's a top 10, maybe top 5 goalie and I think everyone will find that out this year. - NickTheKid87
Its good to hear that from a division rival lol I feel like a giant homer if I say that about Schneider. I think its usually the divisional rivals that come and stick up for each other when some random team comes in giving them poop because they know about the players and respect them having to play them so many times a year. I will probably be pulling for the flyers a lot this season having two of them on my team just got to hope they don't play well against the Devils. |

Not sure if this was discussed yet, but re: Pronger
Elliotte Friedman @FriedgeHNIC ยท 15h 15 hours ago
Pronger: issue is in Article 26 of CBA. No one being paid by a team can be paid by the league. - BulliesPhan87
So, it's a conflict of interest. Even trading him to a team that needs to get to the floor has the same problem. |

So was Hartnell missed last night? B Scheen did not have a great game, but most of that line did not. I wonder if he would have had a Rinaldo like penalty as well...I did see more guys trying to did the puck out low when they had a chance, so it seems that the team knows they lost that skill set...just were not able to generate any sustained offense from it... |

I hope we come out with some purpose and score first. We need the 2 points for sure with Montreal coming in Saturday.. If we start 0 and 3.. yikes! panic central - Hextall271
So Berube will be fired by Sunday before the Eagles game?? |

I know Bishop's story guys.
I'll stop trying to defend Mason critics who I don't agree with lol - eayost
I think Mason will be steady in net like he was last year. I fear that some fans will expect him to be a Vezina-caliber goalie, which would create a lot of unattainable expectations for him and possibly lead to unfair treatment, etc. |

Nope.. Stay the course.. but after last season's start and all the talk that they want to get off on a bettter foot, they really need to actually do it.. haha |

I hear ya. I have Schneider on one of my fantasy squads too because I think all those nice things about him so I won't mind a 2-1 Flyers win. |

Right, and if* it's in violation of the CBA there's more to that conflict of interests than just an optics issue.

I'd do a 1-1 swap of B Schenn for Kane in a heartbeat. Kane's a better skater and a natural wing. - BiggE
Could be? But is not now. And this line has yet two show chemistry. On paper it makes sense...on paper. |

Hey, maybe! According to that one article, Bettman doesn't seem to think it's an issue. |

It wasn't the skating up, it was the shot to the chops. If Rinaldo didn't cuff him, no penalty - Jsaquella
Talking about the Schenn penalty. |

No for sure and I was hoping they would lose ( only because I am a Devils fan ) but I was also hoping for big nights from Giroux and Simmonds but they both have missed some time so I shouldnt be to surprised those two where pretty quiet or so the boxscore would make it seem. - blizzzard
This is why I hate fantasy leagues. You should never let make believe computer stats affect how you feel about your favorite team's rivals. |

That's the worst part. For 90% of his time on ice Rinaldo was a positive presence. Even his second penalty, they were hemmed in, it wasn't necessarily dumb. But the first one, there's just no excuse for it.
Ref is ten feet away, you know you have a reputation and aren't getting a break and you hit a non-goon in the face, far away from the puck. - Jsaquella
i agreee...BUT the ref could easily have called a coincidental on both before the last shot. it's like he was waiting for rinaldo to eventually escalate and go 1 step worse than the other guy. he also could have let it go. let's not pretend nobody has ever gotten away with a tiny little shot like that with the ref watching.
rinaldo needs better composure. i thought it was poor officiating in that sequence.

There seems to be an obvious solution here. The NHL could -- and should -- create an exception to the over-35 contract rules for "bonafide career ending injuries" for Pronger and other affected players. The remaining money on the player's contract should still count against the leaguewide upper limit of hockey-related revenues that go toward player salaries. That way, the money is still accounted for within the system the same as amnesty and regular buyouts. However, the cap hit should be removed from the team's cap figure.
That way, the NHL can hire Pronger with no conflict of interests. The yearly LTIR charade for a player everyone knows will never play again can end. Lastly, teams are not penalized for situations such as Pronger's. Apart from the Flyers, NHL teams with permanently injured players serving out long-term contracts for cap reasons should also be allowed to benefit from the exemption.
Been saying this for about 6 months. The Pronger LTIR dance is completely asinine.
And the bright side should the NHL and Pronger just completely screw the Flyers and they have to make trades to get under the cap? All you Junior Hockey fetishists can get started in December figuring out who the Flyers could possibly draft. |

It was. The ref should have given both he and Krug 2. Heck, even after Rinaldo was skating away he still got a shot from Krug. |

"The NHL doesn't need to do this."
"That's why the LTIR exemption exists in the CBA."
"I'm right." |

Regarding Mason, I have read nothing but negative reviews regarding him this offseason. It's like they the so called experts never watched a game he played. he was solid all season and when he came back in the playoffs was outstanding IMO. Most comments have focused on how he regressed after one good year in CBJ and expect him to have the same issue and to be horrible this year even though there is no evidence. I also read reviews that had him behind several backup tenders in rankings of the league's tenders which is ridiculous. Once again, the experts prove that they don't watch the Flyers and simply copy and paste the story from 5 years ago saying we can't win because our tending is no good. Idiots. - Hextall271
that's because the media is full of (frank)ing morons who are too lazy to say anything different. because flyers, ya' know? |

More specifically, he seemed to be saying he'd be fine with Pronger taking the job while still remaining in the Flyers contract picture, which is weird if this tweet from Friedman is true. |
