There is always going to be a few eyebrows raised when you scratch one of your veteran players (unless as you noted, he is banged up). And I don't believe I ever indicated he was their best d-man. Obviously Giordano takes that title. As far as Brodie, I'm not quite sold yet, thus far he seems to be more one-dimensional; however, I haven't had an opportunity to see him play that much, so perhaps there is more to his game.

sorry was bloated that threw that out there.

I don't think theres much concern with this team on scratching players, they're preaching the "earn your spot" mentality. So its following that thought.

As for Brodie. previously to last year, he was like tanev. He's grown well passed that. Last year he played gio's minutes (close to 25min a night) while he was injured and handled them very well. 30pts (beats all canucks D last year) and stayed 0 on+/- which is a feat itself on the flames right now.

Also on that note, tanev looked great last night. Nice to see him stepping up solidly into the season

"NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman would have no problem with Chris Pronger working in the league's department of player safety even while the former defenceman is still on the Philadelphia Flyers' payroll."

So, cap circumvention went from a cardinal sin to something acknowledged and apparently accepted by the commish in just a couple years

I don't know which game to watch. First world problems. Flyers and Devils it is.

This IS the Devils we're talking about... they wouldn't know offense even if Wayne Gretzky, Mario Lemieux and Bobby Orr suddenly became part of their team.

Pronger is probably the biggest douche to ever play the game and this just cements his reputation. He has no business anywhere near a player safety department. That's worse than Homer Simpson.

On the bright side Vinney and Simmonds are looking great to start the season.

The dirtiest player ever in a role of player safety is a joke.

Just makes hockey look more like a bush league joke compared to other sports. So condescending to people who know the game.

Maybe he can recruit Kasparaitis and Claude Lemieux to the job to make the league super safe for everyone.

He will stand next to the wheel of punishment in a banana hammock and spin it when prompted

Maybe Bettman will hire Luongo in a few years so that the Canucks won't have to pay that salary cap chargeback.

What's the deal with the Comets sending Fox to the ECHL? I thought the point of owning your own farm team is close development of players.

Called it... I said that Colorado vastly outperformed their experience/talent level and Varlamov had numbers that were an anomaly compared to what his average was.
