Having the bones in their feet broken by slapshots would make them slower. |

I understand the Flyers are a better team with Coburn in the lineup but lets not forget there were quite a few games over the last few seasons the Flyers yielded 7,8 & 9 goals against. All while having Coburn, Timonen & Carle among others in the lineup. Just saying. |

Game is tied at 4 and Mason gives up a very soft game winning goal. You can say he had no chance one the other 4 but in the end..all that matters..he gave up an atrocious goal for the loss. That is goaltending though, the night before he kept them in it at points so it will balance out but still that goal was junk.
Personally I believe the Forwards take the blame for their defensive effort regardless of what Mason did. - opeth_pa
disagree vehemently with atrocious. i couldn't be any farther apart on that. at 4 - 4 after coming back all those times, you shouldn't give up a 2 on 1 after just tying the game in the 3rd period. you can also blame the d. great shot from point blank.
and to say "that's all that matters" is ridiculous because it lets the rest of the team off the hook for the rest of the game.
tell ya' what...when you've strapped on the pads and stopped that shot you can say it was atrocious.
do you need and want that save there? of course. atrocious? bull(frank)ingpoop.

The news look good on injured defenseman Braydon Coburn per the beats. Doesn't look like substantial time lost with his lower body injury. - wilsonecho91
That is awesome news -- that dude can't get back soon enough

Mason is fine. He probably should have stopped that 5th goal but he was left out to dry all game long. I refuse to blame him for anything right now. |

We can agree to disagree then..To me in a 4 on 4 game , your starting goalie needs to make a save on a routine shot.
Also that strapping the pads on stuff is funny. Seriously , you sound as sand in the vag as I was last season every time someone praised Couturier.

Ok, last season they let up 7 or more 3 times
Season 2012-2013 they scored 7 or more 3 times without letting up that many in any games.
Season 2011-2012 they scored more than 7 goals 4 times while letting up 7 or more 1 time.
So that is 4 times in the last three season. You ARE right, that is quite a few.

Looks like Carle's getting his minutes cut in Tampa, too.
Taken off the PP completely, and his TOI is down to 16:49 from 22:00+. - Tomahawk
well tampa has good depth on D

I was also referring to the 10-4 ass kicking we took from the Pens in the playoffs.
The 9-8 loss to the Jets and the 8-7 loss to the Lightning. Thats just horrible. |

They must have only one dman on their PP units cause Hedman had 7 PP minutes, Stralman had almost 5 PP minutes, and the next most was Garrison with 12 seconds. |

you stated your view on mason's performance in your original post rather plainly.
pretty much every shot is routine then right? and the goalie should just make every save, because he's the goalie? right? but wait, the backup shouldn't be expected to make that save on that routine shot simply because he's the backup? so if emery got beat there it wouldn't be atrocious? right?
funny? it's not funny, it's (frank)ing sad. because 99.9% of the population doesn't have a (frank)ing clue how hard the position is to play, even for the pros, and say poop like you did...atrocious, routine, all that matters etc etc...i'm sick to death of it.
and couturier is a terrific young player.

I think he means ideally MacDonald would be a 4/5. Obviously, the Flyers situation is far from ideal. - NickTheKid87
Well, at least one person understood. I'm sharing an opinion of MacDonald, built upon watching him, looking at his stats, advanced and traditional and in conjunction with others whose opinions I respect.
IMO, if MacDonald is the best guy on your second pair, your 2nd pair isn't that great. If he's the second guy on your second pair, it's probably a solid, if not very good pair. It's not as if MacDonald was playing 20 minutes a night on a good defense. He was one of the Isles better defensemen, but if he was on a team like Chicago, St Louis, LA, or the Rangers, he's probably not playing 20 minutes a night.
He's not an awful player, but it amazes me the reaction one gets when it's suggested he's little more than a secondary guy |

Yeah, Filppula and Connolly manning the points on their respective units.

To think he was once deemed worthy of being the centerpiece of a trade sending Chris Pronger away. |
