I think one or both of Gostisbiere and Alt need to be called up. A big thing I keep seeing is breakout passes hitting skates or getting picked off and we get hemmed in the zone. I understand the pairs won't be great but we need to be able to transition the puck forward.

Biggest area of concern now is the flyers are now having to use 6 starting defenseman who on most teams would ALL be 4-8 on the depth charts and ow are on the top 4 pairings...an with Coburn likely out a couple months, it's likely going to get ugly before better imho.
We could be in the Mcdavid/Eichel talks by Christmas - Buzzo
I'd personally say that the biggest area of concern isn't the defenseman, but it's the top line. They have had two poor games in a row. They have been bad both offensively, and defensively.

Hate scapegoating and been a Luke schenn guy but if there's any way hextall can move him now's the time.... We have seen zero improvement from him and I'm doubting he ever becomes more than a 4th shutdown guy - JoeRussomanno
ya know, I don't think now's the time at all... He just had a -5 game.. we'd be selling low from a position of desperation. If we do move him, I'd say in the offseason.. Or keep him and slot him as a 5/6 guy where he prob belongs. Still can't believe we gave up JVR for a 5/6 but oh well.
On a side note, does anyone notice that when passing or shooting the puck, there always seems to be a hesitation from Schenn? He always kind of has to corrall the puck on his stick a bit (even when the puck is flat) before passing or shooting. It's only a split second thing but in this fast league.. it can matter.. |

Its time to help VL turn in a great year or months, whatever. We need to trade him out of town for cap relief and allowing B Schenn back to his natural center position. Im so sick of moving these players out of their natural and comfortable positions especially when they are young and still growing . They are kiling this kids future. Thats my problem with this teams managment. Im hoping for a lottery pick and trim the fat on d and forward and go young and deal with growing pains instead of just crap on ice. |

Schenn is going to get unfairly criticized for being a -5 in that game. I've reviewed the replay of every goal that was scored. There were plenty of breakdowns by other players that contributed greatly to those goals. And there was some bad luck such as Henrique's shot that was going wide, hitting his skate and deflecting in.
Now is not a time to panic and make a trade. Now is a time to pay more attention to detail and shore up the team defense.

The first line was not good at all in Boston and was a little better last night but not much! B Schenn doesn't look like he is comfortable, but it's only been 2 games. He has done nothing .
The D is a concern and MDZ getting caught up ice will kill this team as we have seen it way too much all ready. Grossman was not good last night and was beaten a couple times where he had to take a penalty at costly points in the game. Minus Coburn.. The overall foot speed on this defense is a problem |

I said this when they signed VLC especially long term deal... Homers legacy as GM: solid drafting, poopty contracts and trades. |

I am not sure what the cap situation is, but if Coburn needs say a month to recover, I think we might need to sign someone off the scrap heap. I don't want to expose Ghost to this clown show. |

Coburn out hurts, but Schultz wasn't the problem last night, and neither was the defense. Nor were the defenseman an issue in game 1. The problem last night was team defense, and breakdowns by a many players.

I'll agree that we shoudn't panic..and the bad game is not all on Schenn but I can't see us doing well without Coburn. Schenn and others are not properly slotted right now and we're asking too much of them. You think last night was bad, Montreal must be licking their chops. |

Two games into the season. No reason for panic. Already talk about trades, missing the playoffs, getting the top pick. Crazy. |

I fully expect the Flyers to turn it around. Their defense is not ideal, and losing Coburn hurts. But this defense is still capable.

Team D can improve, but did you notice plays like Jagr walking around Grossmann resulting in him taking a penalty? Forwards can help, but our D is overmatched against top lines without Coburn. |
