I think we should also put mason in witness protection program. It cant be sitting well with him having the d leave him out to dry. |

I'll agree that we shoudn't panic..and the bad game is not all on Schenn but I can't see us doing well without Coburn. Schenn and others are not properly slotted right now and we're asking too much of them. You think last night was bad, Montreal must be licking their chops. - Hextall271
The speed of Montreal will destroy the Flyers if they play like they did last night |

Two games into the season. No reason for panic. Already talk about trades, missing the playoffs, getting the top pick. Crazy. - MJL
There needs to be trades tho. The wagon is burning ain't gonna make it into town without replacing something. |

It's early, but look at the sched. I fully believe Hexy will stay the course and he should. I would even hesitate to call up any of the younger D from the A. Just let them develop and no need to rush them. What happens if another D goes down? |

If Emery gets the start, the D will be scarred out of their mind to leave him out to dry so they will play a better game

Team D can improve, but did you notice plays like Jagr walking around Grossmann resulting in him taking a penalty? Forwards can help, but our D is overmatched against top lines without Coburn. - Hextall271
Of course I noticed it. So a world class offensive player and a hall of fame player beat a defenseman? That's going to happen occasionally.
Every time there is a game like this, the defenseman get called out. But nobody calls out Umberger for not picking up Ryder on the back check, leaving him all alone to fire a shot from the top of the circle. Or Voracek not sticking with his man on the Elias goal. Or Lecavalier turning a puck over leading to a lucky deflection goal.

We all know that this team has some holes in the lineup. Even if they were 2-0 that would still be the case wouldn't it?

If they were 2-0 and Luke schenn played well, i wouldn't be lobbying for a trade. |

I said earlier that the forwards have to do more to help team D. The problem I see is that the D corps has taken a step back from last year and I don't think it's good enough without Timonen and Coburn. We'll be asking too much from guys like Schenn and Grossmann and putting them in a position to fail rather than succeed. As I said, God help us if say Streit were to go down. |

If they were 2-0 it would be from one of the following two choices....
1) The other team didnt show up....and when I say didnt show up, I mean literally the team didnt show up to the staduim.
2) Smoke and mirrors. |

WELP. Here we are again. Basically same team and its an 0-2 start. Flyers outplayed NJ and had some bad luck goals against but they are still 0-2. Its unacceptable and after Saturday I have no doubt in my mind they will be 0-3. They have no line chemistry. The defensive breakdowns are pathetic and B. Schenn or Lecavalier need to be traded cause neither of them can play LW to save their life. |

So you think they should panic because they're 2-0? Is Luke Schenn the only player who didn't play well? Look at the replay of the goals Joe, and tell me that you can honestly say Schenn is the main culprit.

No he's not the main culprit but he's the biggest dead weight. He gives you nothing out there on a regular basis. All the other players, even VL will give u offense from time to time. |

We all know it's not good enough to contend for a Cup. We knew that going into the season. But it is good enough to make the playoffs. Even if they had won the first two games, we knew that about the defense.
So looking at the two first games, the problems have been lack of offense in the first game. And the team defense broke down in the 2nd game. Not that the defenseman didn't make some mistakes, but it's not all on them.

Haha.. yep.. I would say stay the course, don't need to call anyone up yet. This start is not shocking to me at all..I shudder to think if another Dman goes down though. |

Schenn is going to get unfairly criticized for being a -5 in that game. I've reviewed the replay of every goal that was scored. There were plenty of breakdowns by other players that contributed greatly to those goals. And there was some bad luck such as Henrique's shot that was going wide, hitting his skate and deflecting in.
Now is not a time to panic and make a trade. Now is a time to pay more attention to detail and shore up the team defense. - MJL
On the ice for 7 of the 8 goals allowed this season. A staggering -6 in two games.
He's a "scapegoat" |

I'd be happy and say they started a very hard month off well. I'd still be woried about the D without COburn though. |

I'd rather they get rid of VL but they'll likely move Schenn ... Both of them |
