Todd, who do,you think comes out for Larsson? I doubt it's Severson, Gelinas was fine last night, and Deboer loves Merrill. The other 3 guys are locks to play.

I wouldn't be surprised to see Brunner in, and maybe Josefson since it makes more sense to have JJ centering Ruutu and Brunner than Gionta. 4th line was god-awful last night.

How about that third line center there lol I think a lot of people are going to get an I told you so when he hits 30 goals this season

Who would Brunner replace ? after the 3 point performance by ryder it wont be him and lou wont dress him on the fourth line so I can't see him replacing tootoo unless jj comes in for tootoo. I really hope its not gelinas we need to get a big win against a weaker panther squad and start the year 2-0

I don't mind splitting up Gelinas and Zid. To be honest I don't care who they have paired with Gelinas for a pp I actually think its best he is not with Zids ( Its probably just me but I get the vibe Zids avoids passing to Gelinas as much as he could because he thinks he is the better option ) My main concern is when you start a powerplay you are awarded a draw in the opponents end and that is exactly when Gelinas needs to be in the ice to get that big shot off. I wouldn't of cared if Severson was on the first unit with Gelinas that wouldn't have been an issue. If I was coach I would be putting me best guys out there for a power play or a penalty kill to me especially on a power play as those shouldnt be tough minutes you get to slow the game down and shouldnt be wasted a ton of energy. If a guy like zid can play the first 130 of a pp then gelinas can to. Also having those two back there is likely just as dangerous when we are talking about something going wrong as Kovy was on the point of the pp.

I get what you are saying, but I'm not that worried about it. There are times when fatigue can make someone sit, it could be good to get Gelinas away from a tough matchup etc. I'll be pissed when they start scratching him.

That's what I'm saying. Make,a,4th scoring line of Ruutu- JJ - Brunner. They couldn't do worse defensively than Tootoo and Gionta, and they'd be capable of actually producing offense. Or if JJ doesn't work, waive him and sign Gomez. What's the point of a checking line if they can't even play defense that well?

Get GIO and Salvador out of the lineup ASAP - I don't care about their "intangibles"

Just think, that 3 could of been 4 or 5 for us.

The Flyers should hang Elias' jersey in the rafters of the First Union/Correstates/Wells Fargo Center or whatever they end up calling it by the time he retires. He's provided the arena's greatest moments

Regarding the Gelinas discussion, I also don't care who's paired with which guy. I just want him to get close to 50% (or more) of the power play time.

All in all I am excited about Severson. He played well last night on the first pairing. First game in the NHL, first pairing. Thrown into the position he is has to suck a little for him though. Larsson must hate him right now, but in reality, you can't hate on a dude for playing well. He has nothing to do with the fact that they won't bench Sal and keep (frank)ing Larsson. I think this kid is the real deal, which is exciting, if it weren't for the Larsson situation, I think I would be more excited, which is irritating to me.
