I was pretty happy Del Zotto stayed in the division. He really came up clutch (for us) in the conference finals against the Rangers.

The Devils have a good team this year. I'm not sold on their defense yet, or Corey Schneider, but they have four lines that score goals consistently. They always play good team defense, so if (or should I say when...it's the Devils), they get it together defensively, they could most definitely be in the playoff hunt. I think the four lines looked like this last night...

They look like a bunch of old washed up vets thrown together in a big pile on paper, but they're very skilled and deep up front. They're going to be a thorn in the side for my Flyers once again . I can't wait til Elias retires! He kills the Flyers every game it seems like! We'll see if their old legs can last the whole season, but they looked pretty darn good offensively last night.

I know this is only game 2 of the season, but this game feels like somewhat of a 'must win' to me. There may still be new season jitters, etc. so anything could happen. These are the games that need to be consistently won this season, if these guys want to sniff the playoffs. Setting the tone starts tonight. The W is a must here.

Last year the Devils beat a few playoff teams and floundered with mediocre ones. It would be nice if this year not all games were crap shoots. At the same time last year there were team like the Flyers and the Rangers turned out to be bi-polar and turned their jets on after having a lousy start.

Cory Schneider lost every game he played against Loungo last season lol Need to set the tone early this year and the more points we scoop up while teams are still putting it together the better. Took us 9 games to get our first w last year. There are just so many little things that could of went different and resulted in us being in the play offs like winning a few games early against edmonton and calgary or winning a few shoot outs. I just want us to start our first 10 games with 7-8 wins lol need to get the points early.

The flyers are out Timonen for possibly the year and Coburn for a couple more games and the Rangers are out stepan for at least 9 more games and Boyle is out 6-8 weeks after blocking a shot so it would be really nice to take advantage of those teams injuries and start the season great. Last year all three of the Devils, Rangers and Flyers started slow and we did nothing to make it hard for them to come back or pass us this year we need to get as many points early while their rosters are thinner then they should be. Make it difficult for them to catch up.

7-8 wins is tough. I'll be happy with 12 or more points. Those might be low expectations but its the pace we need to make the playoffs.
