was Sbisa crowned the Canucks 2014/15 HB whipping boy while I was gone?

He organized a coup, seized power, and had Edler locked in a tower before throwing himself a coronation party |

I don't want to Monday morning QB this thing but that whole debacle left a bad taste in my mouth at the time.
The loses of Malhotra and Samuelsson had a greater impact on this team's general make-up than I suspected it would at the time of their departures. In saying that Samuelsson was already done by then, just not replaced. - AlexF
Agreed on Malhotra, but Not Samuelsson. He was the best Gillis signing IMHO, and provided great depth, but I thought the team replaced that.
I never put in any effort to see if it was true, but I thought the loss of Salo was far more significant for the reason you mentioned above. |

Organized a coup - (smart tactical leadership)
Seized power - (alpha)
Locked Edler somewhere away from the ice - (saved me the trouble)
Threw himself a party - (DoPe)
Sounds like a stud. |

losing Samuelsson for booth was one of the canucks greatest detriments in the last couple of years.
I remember feeling uneasy about the move to begin with. Still wish we had sammy. |

Sammuelson was pretty much done and, I believe, hasn't played in very many games since leaving the Canucks. I thought he was great when he was here, though, but it was time to move on. What I really liked was his leadership and versatility, but you can't keep someone around just because they have non-hockey intangibles unfortunately |

You forgot the fundamental flaw that he went to all of that effort to become a whipping boy |

Agreed, Samuelsson was more a product of the Viking strain of swedes than much of the modern mellow variety. Kronwall has that too. More than just personality he also had that versatile combination of playmaker, scorer, easily slotting up and down the lineup, and a decent guy on the PP. - AlexF

Hmmm, I wonder how Benning would have done walking into that roster that Gillis did? I also wonder how Gillis would achieve a cup final with this roster had he only been hired right now?
Its night and day. Gillis walked into a team in their prime ready to do things... Benning walked into a team ready to retire....
Oh by the way, Torts won a cup since we are using this logic... its all that matters right? Why did they fire him?
- boonerbuck
You lost me at "I wonder" because everything after that is speculation. Gillis was judged on what the team did during his time at the helm of this team. Benning will be too, and that's as it should be. What happened before they took office is irrelevant. |

The guy that scored a goal and knocked the highest paid defence man out of the game with a big hit?
He still has a little hockey left in him. |

Do you actually watch hockey? or are you just vying for that Annual Troll Trophy.
If you DID watch hockey you would see Burrows is a long way from not being a very positive factor on the Canucks (we've been over the reasons of why EVERYONE on the Canucks, and not just Burrows, had a shi*ty year last year ad naseum but I"m not going to repeat it just for you. Next time pay attention and you might not look like a tool). Stick to your beloved Flames and their inevitable 2014 Stanley Cup winning season |

I would assume so, unless they are giving Sestito a shot at D |
