Another sad thing. I just read a few weeks ago that the government will make a 66 billion profit off of college loans that were taken out during 2007-2012. And that profit was after taking out administration fees, and bad debt that wasn't going to be paid.
Kind of sickening. - Mentalorgasm5
It's definitely a money making racket. There's no doubt. However, we are enablers in a lot of ways. |

Before the islanders traded for the two dman, and signed the two former leafs. I thought they had a chance at making the playoffs. While I don't think they are a lock to make the playoffs. I don't see their pick being a top 10 pick in the 2015 draft. - Mentalorgasm5
I think that pick will be in the 12-15 range. |

Wow, that's nuts. By comparison, Scottish(nationals) students study for free during undergraduate years and potentially graduate years depending on their field of study. |

College tuition and college loans is completely shady as (frank). - jochfr
Yes everything about it. As i just finished school and i am around 35k in debt with a bachelors of science i would not even suggest college to anyone to be honest. I wish i never went but i finished out the degree anyway. I will be paid off in 5 years thanks to the GI bill but if that didnt exist id be (frank)ed with a job as a lab assistant getting paid jack poop. |

I believe Germany got rid of college tuition also.... Plus they accept foreign students and give them free college. I'll have to look that up, I may have the wrong country but I know it's at least one of them over there. |

You're right it's Germany although recently they've allowed them to start charging but many schools still offer the free education.

There is a lot of people that go to school in the US, then move abroad and tell us to go pound sand with a 6 figure debt. I don't blame some of them |

My son is going to the University of Tennessee and if it wasn't for scholarships the ex wife and I would be screwed. We split whatever is not covered. I think it's $22k per year after everything is added in. We split about $4k a year after all his scholarships kick in which isn't bad. At least my son will be debt free when He's done with school. He's one of the lucky ones that won't be crippled with debt after he gets out.
$7,802 tuition
$8,752 on campus room & board
$1,492 books
$1,290 fees

Your son's about to realize what a colossal rip off that section is. Don't know too much about US college education but would that tuition be lower or higher than the average school? |

thats division 1 so those will generally be the highest priced schools in the country (obviously some private and ivy league schools are more expensive). its slightly discounted because he lives in state (im assuming). For comparison i went to Alfred State which is a small state school and the tuition per year is 6 grand before scholarships. That doesnt include food and room |

I think you meant his parents, because we pay for that poop...
Not sure about the average.... I don't think it's even close to one of the most expensive.
It's in the south where learning is optional.
