I think Shultz gets exposed tonight. This D can't skate with thd Habs. Ghost comes up next game.

I seriously doubt that. Hextall is not going to panic.

I really wanto see them give Schenn at least 10-15 games up with the line.. they need some time together to see how it works. I have my doubts because I think Schenn needs to play C to produce. They really need to leave the forwards be for a while to develop some continuity.
- Hextall271

If Vinny couldn't do it, I doubt Schenn will. But 2 real games isn't much of a try out. I agree they haven't had enough time, but that line was pretty un impressive against NJ. Jake looked the best (or most consistent effort at least). You can say that G had a great goal, but that's what you expect out of your super star.

It's not panic. It's putting in your best skating defenseman. No Coburn. No Kimmo.

I want to see much more from the top line 5-5.. I expect them to produce on the PP... but for line 1, I want to see a solid two way game and some point production. No excuse if you look at the talent on that line.

Agreed. I'm just worried that we have overrated B Schenn all along.

That's also a big worry of mine.. JVR took a while to blossom, but he's a different type of player. My personal opinion is that we'll give him the whole year putting him in a position to succeed on the first line. If he doesn't or regresses, I can see him moved in the offseason, but I'd only do it for a bona fide top 3 Dman.

I'm thinking id like to see Raffl and Schenn swap lines. Raffl has had good chemistry with this guys in the past. Schenn just doesn't seem to have that chemistry thus far. I realize they have only been together since pre-season and G was hurt most of it.

It seemed as though Berube did some juggling in the 2nd half of the Devil's game. I seem to recall Raffl out with Giroux. There were also several shifts of Schenn/VL/Simmonds in the latter parts of the third period with Umberger replacing Simmonds on Coot's line.

Don't know if he will be able to bring that after a subpar year struggling on the top line.

I think we possibly have. I am looking for at least 25 goals and 25 assists from him playing with G and Jake.
I would like too see them give him at least 10-15 games to get some chemistry. Then review their options at that time. Hey, we still came out of that deal with Simmonds and that's a win in my book!

Had to do something. After that great 2nd period, they ran out of steam.

Steve Mason is expected to go for the Flyers. He has a perfect 3-0-0 record against the Habs in his career with a 1.63 goals-against average and .936 save percentage.

Again, a worry I have. May be part of a package.. if not, he stays and we keep hoping he develops. Regarding the D, which is the worry I have more than O.. The ideal scenario to me is for Hexy to find a way for a trade to get a top 3 dman (younger) to help us fill the gap between now and when the D prospects are ready..It would cost us one of the our centres and maybe a forward prospect/pick. If we're sold on what we have for D prospects, then get someone to help while they develop..then they can just come along at their own pace and be slowly transitioned into the lineup.

I'd still do those trades. If Schenn doesn't work out, then the Richie trade doesn't look as good, but Simmonds is awesome. I think we did ok in the other deal getting jake and Cooter..lol

47 Andrew MacDonald - 55 Nick Schultz

I think Schultz played the left side and MacDonald played the right side against NJ. It surprised me because Mac had always played the left side in Philly before that.

Personally I've been skeptical the whole time with him, just hoping he proves me wrong. Book isn't written for him yet but it feels like he has developing chemistry with line mates. All the juggling they do with him doesn't help

BSchenn and Richards both scored 41 points last year, and Simmonds had 60. I was upset by the Richards trade at the time, but it the long run it was a great trade.
