I almost expect Snider to be so fed up with this that he hires Torts.

Please god no.

Ugh is right -- I've never met the man, but his public demeanor is one that I think the Flyers can do without

He had an era, and I think that era has passed

MDZ has the physical tools, it's whats between the ears that worries me. He seems to hesitate before making a play which is bad enough, but then he goes on to make a poor decision anyway. He's been struggling for a couple years, I'm starting to think, and I can' t say why his game has sunk so low, that he just is what he is.
- BiggE

Mental side of the game is hard to figure out.

I think he would greatly benefit playing with a solid vet type D man.

The LSchenn pairing is a disaster.

You are likely right.

It's just they badly need a guy with wheels and he has that.
The mistakes may be too much to live with though.

I'd be really turned off if he was associated with the Flyers.
Might stop watching even, that is how strong my dislike is for Torts.

From the "It Can Always Be Worse" Department:

As dire as it seems right now, at least the Flyers aren't:

1. Colorado Avalanche, which got outshot 48-16 in their first game, a 5-0 shutout loss, and then got shutout 3-0 last night -- that's right, they've played two games and haven't scored yet

2. Edmonton Oilers, who blew two, two-goal leads last night on the road in Vancouver and went on to lose 5-4 in a shootout. Despite changes, they still appear extremely weak defensively, to the degree that while they are better than they were, they still aren't good enough

I hate that the Flyers aren't playing well enough at the moment, but there really are some other teams off to some brutal starts, as well

However I would rather have Schenn than Grossman any day.
- 3flyerkids

Other than being four years younger and righthanded, Schenn really has nothing on Grossmann. They play the same basic role and Grossmann has generally been the better of the two at it over the course of their respective careers (though Schenn had much more hype coming into the NHL). Schenn is sometimes a better passer but is very sporadic in that regard. Neither one skates or turns well.

That's a deal I'd love to explore. Josi is a good defenseman. Has the potential to be a top pair guy.

I have been critical of Grossmann before, but I'll completely own this statement: If a hockey game was being played for my life and I had to have one of Grossmann or Schenn on my roster, Grossmann would absolutely be playing over Schenn

Reason: Hockey sense. I think Grossmann's hockey sense dwarfs Luke Schenn's by an order of magnitude that is scary to think about

So would I, but I don't think the Preds would make that deal unless Laviolette truly thinks a second go-around with B. Schenn would be fruitful and pushes for it. With the way the Preds have played in their first two games -- and Josi has been a big part of it -- I really doubt it.

Chief is down on B. Schenn right now, BTW. Stopped just short of outright ripping him after the pregame skate yesterday but also didn't sugar-coat anything when asked about his play in the early going.

Seems like he's confused, playing out of position

Missed this, what did he say?

PHILADELPHIA >> From the swirl of the Flyers’ 0-and-2 start has come the first blast of criticism. Craig Berube wants more from Brayden Schenn.

“I mean, he can play better, for sure,” the head coach said Saturday, before a Wells Fargo Center game against the Montreal Canadiens. “I don’t know that it is a challenge for him, but he can play better. And he knows that. He has had a couple opportunities, but I think overall his game has to get quicker --- quicker and stronger.”

Schenn had gone scoreless in the first two games, checking out as a minus-1.

During the Flyers’ 6-4 loss Thursday to New Jersey, Schenn was shifted to the left wing on a line with Vinny Lecavalier and Wayne Simmonds. Berube planned to keep that line intact Saturday.

Berube was pointed in his critique of Schenn, insisting that the forward skate more effectively.

“Well, that’s part of being quicker,” Berube said. “It’s moving your feet and winning more battles.”

Earlier Saturday, following a morning skate, the Flyers appeared unanimous in dismissing the long-term effects of their slow start. Despite that, Berube was comfortable with his verbal nudge of Schenn … or any player.

“I don’t think I put pressure on them by telling them what they did wrong,” Berube said. “I tell them what they did right. It’s both. But if you can’t handle a constructive criticism when you are playing professional hockey, it is a bit of a problem. If you are a pro athlete, you have to be accountable.”

Might just need to move the Schenns and be done with it -- Hextall didn't acquire either of them, he shouldn't feel beholden to them.

I mean, seriously. Last year, Luke Schenn was in Chateau Bow-Wow, this year, Brayden Schenn lasted all of four periods in one of what has to be the best slots currently in hockey. I mean, seriously. With an in-prime Giroux and an in-prime Voracek, really, all you have to do to is get to the front of the net and win some board battles -- it can't be that hard. Michael Raffl looked abysmal the first two games and he scored in the first period of his first full game with them -- it can't be that hard!

Something just isn't working, whether it's between the ears or physical shortcomings or personal dislike, I don't know, but something isn't working with the Schenns

They just need to commit to the idea of Vinny being a long term part of this team and move BSchenn and get a natural winger in there.

B. Schenn has looked bad. Seems to have no confidence or jump.

I just hope we don't see a short sighted, fire up the troops move. I don't want Berube Fired, either. I had low expectations, and they need to stick with a patient approach.

Makes you wonder if they'd return to the rumored Evander Kane discussions from this past summer.

Schenn has been on wing so far. Outside of injury, I think he's a winger for the rest of the season.
