On to a happier subject . If the Leafs lose tonight . Does the official countdown start for Carlyle? And who is the favorite to replace him ?

Aliu's 2nd goal gave the Amerks the lead temporarily... it didn't "tie the score". Rochester blew a 4-3 lead in the game.

Many Sabres fans have been waiting for Girgensons to put up some offensive numbers. He's been a fan-favorite for everything he does away from the puck, the way he plays a north-south game and for the grit he brings, but last season his production was mediocre at best.

I'm sorry, Michael, but I have to take issue with this.

Zembot was a rookie last season. Many Sabres fans have been waiting for him to put up offensive numbers since when, his only other season in the league?

8 goals for a 19-year old rookie isn't anything to sneeze at, especially given his other contributions. It would have been mediocre had Drew Stafford scored 8 goals, but not a kid playing in his first league season.

Just my opinion.

Other than that, excellent blog, as usual. :

Sorry I loved Kenneth Davis but he should have been #1 over Thurman .

I'm sure you meant shouldn't have been but I was being sarcastic anyway.

I think the expectations are high in "star starved' Buffalo. But most of us who watch the games and do our research know Girgensons potential and realize he was no slouch last year on a bad team. I'm glad that kid is on our team and how ever he is extended when the time comes will be OK with me. Very Drury-esque in his hatred of losing. i'm glad we snagged him in the draft.

Let 'em win. Keeps them further away from McEichel.

In order for them not to be in the McEichel Sweepstakes, they need to have a better record than the Sabres. In order for them to have a better record than the Sabres, they need to win some games. I'd rather they beat a good team every once in a while. That way their win doesn't hurt the Sabres at all.

I am aware of all that and agree with you . But those darn Leaf forums are so entertaining when they are in the middle of a slide.

And when the Sabres play Carolina, Calgary and Florida, Neuvirth has to be in goal.

Up 332.5 - 249.

Been making changes to my week 2 roster and watching hockey since 7:00. Too bad most of us are in random divisions, is there any chance we meet in the playoffs?

Okay,
Changes will be made...Strachan moves in for Benoit, Flynn moves in for, not Torrey Michell, but for Samson Reinhart. Sammy watches from the box. Flynner moves from 4th line right wing(extra) to third line center. Gionta moves up to the 2nd line w/ Zemgus and Foligno. Flynn centers Stewart and Delaurier......I don't know.....

After going to the two amerk games this weekend I think grigo should get comfortable. He was winning draws clean as can be, logging nice minutes and is actually making armia look great. Best hockey ive seen Armia play since he has been here.

The team looks great and winning games will help grigo continue this emerging development that much more.

And for Mr. Larsson great complete player deserves a call up soon

Agreed. Grigorenko needs to stay in Rochester for the majority of the season, barring a bunch of injuries. When we send Reinhart back to the WHL, we should call up Larsson to slot in at 3rd line center. We can bump (keep) up Girgensons to 2nd line center.

I'm surprised (sorta) that so many still want to fast track Grigorenko so early. Larssons clearly a guy who deserves his shot.

Because when/if both Grigorenko and Larsson reach their peaks, Grigorenko will be far more valuable.
