I disagree. Lee is more then ready. Reinhart needs a full year in the minors. Could he stick and play sheltered minutes as a 6th D-man? Yeah probably but I think in the long haul playing big minutes in the AHL would be more helpful to him. Nothing wrong with that either. Not many D-man come right from juniors and produce right away. There is the exception but he is not one of them
- Vukota

Correct on both players. If Reinhart gets bent out of shape being sent down then too bad. Pulock outplayed him in camp and Reinhart would already be in the AHL if pulock didn't get hurt, even with injuries to Dehaan and visnovsky.

True Lee is four years older and in his third year of elc. Lee is down because they kept Conacher who actually has a lower one way NHL salary. Even if they considered trading Reinhart there are not many teams outside of Buffalo that would start him in the NHL. The family may be pushing him to play there with his brother but I think he really wants to be an Islander. Depending on if they sign Boychuk, who I think they will and health of Viz and De Haan etc. Anyone can be moved

Dehaan is back practicing with the team, but based on what they have done in the past he won't play this week so the isles have time to decide whether to waive Strait or demote Reinhart.

When I saw Reinhart live he didn't look as solid as he did the night before on TV. I agree that he should get a full year in the AHL. He's a big kid, but looked a step behind out there. I think he needs adjust to the speed of the AHL, then the NHL. Going from Juniors straight to the NHL might be too much off a step in terms of the speed of the game. I think he'll be great, but with the depth the team has when the injured players return, he should be brought up through the ranks properly.

It doesn't really matter considering they are going to end up doing both once Viz is healthy. I guess it depends on Viz's timetable but Strait and Reinhart both have their days numbered.

I'd just like to see both carkner and strait gone so they're not options for capuano to use. neither offer anything that we need and both need to go. I don't ever want to see either in an isles jersey again, but I think we're stuck with strait at least the next few games.

I've attended a few AHL games and it is fast hockey with a lot of older physically strong players. Great place for young players to get the ice time and learn positional play. Watching last night's Ranger games and commentary that they started a few young guys who look out of place.

Speaking of AHL BRI won 6-3 and Quine, Czuchman and Colberg had good games.http://theahl.com/stats/s...edule.php?date=2014-10-12

Plans change six months ago Leddy and Boychuk weren't available. I'm surprised a nhl family doesn't realize this
- Dan Petriw

Reinhart and Co. Need to cool out a bit. The kid is 20-21 years old. He's got almost 20 years of NHL ahead of him. He will be on this team as a regular very soon. If not this year, definitely next. He and his family have to understand the cĂ´ntract issues and waivers. Besides, "D" get hurt all the time. Reinhart will get his shot soon

I second that. Waive 'em both. Let Donovan serve as the seventh and Vis, Hickey, de Haan, hammer, Boychuk and Leddy make your healthy "D". Reinhart and Pulock to BPT and are first call ups when injuries happen.

I agree 100%, BUT.. i know always a but... the Family seems to be more upset with the front office saying one thing, promising another thing and then doing something completely different. Yes they feel he belongs on the Island, but they seemed the most bothered by the front office saying the same stuff (last year & this year) and then the kid being the odd man out and not on the Island.

I dont feel like the kid feels he is owed any more then what was already told to him.

Was there an article about the reinhardts being upset?

I believe someone here sat next to his parents last game or in Carolina? Not sure. Would love to have that actually posted instead of hinted at. If Reinhart parents say he's not happy as an Isle I'd expect someone to post that instead of dancing around it. Hints and rumors are as valuable to me as leafs fans planning on JT signing with them four years from now. Whatever.

Donovan should be no where near the NHL at this point. I rather have Carkner.

I'm not suggesting playing either of them. I want carkner gone so if we need a defenseman we call up reinhart/pulock/czuczman rather than dress a guy who is even worse than brian strait. Donovan hasn't earned a shot in the NHL based on his play in camp, but if they waive him he'll likely be claimed with the rest of the league looking for defensemen. If that happens, well, so be it. But I'd rather be rid of strait and carkner before we look at waiving donovan.

I would definitely waive Carkner before Donovan, no doubt. Not so sure about Strait tbh. Hes been bad the last 2 games but hes shown much more reliablilty the past couple of years than Donovan.

brian strait showed he could play a bottom pairing role for about 20 games, then spent the rest of his time as an Isle injured. He's now "healthy" and looks overmatched with sheltered minutes. Can you imagine how bad he would be right now if he got caught on the ice against a real team and not carolina's injury depleted team? good god, get him outta here.

This week should be a good test. Hopefully Strait is gone by Thursday. Dehaan needs to get in a couple meetings before he plays.

He is happy here... he said he wished his brother fell in the draft so he could play for the Isles too.

I wouldn't be listening to second hand rumours.

I can get behind this. I'd like to see us put together a real good start to the year.

I would like to see Donovan dress tonight instead of Strait. Give him his last shot. Strai has clearly shown he can't do it.

Reinhardt needs to work on his skating. He is slower than everyone on ice. I would rather have Carkner out there b/ c he blocks shots and adds toughness. ( i am biased on Carkner.. My son plays with his kids. He is a great guy.)
