There's no proof it's the Sabres leaking it.
After the draft when it was rumored that the Canucks offered the 24th pick and a prospect for him, Murray basically laughed on air and said "We wouldn't have traded him for a top 10 pick let alone the 24th"
The rumors are there because he's our best player and we are rebuilding. That's pretty much it IMO - sbroads24
If these rumors started with Anaheim and Philly I'd be less inclined to blame the Sabres, but it's been a lot of teams. And the Wings don't leak much of anything.
They should just come out and say he's part of our core and we aren't trading him. Saying they'll only trade him if they get over payed (or "over the moon") is stupid. When GMs say that they are always just trying to drive up the price, so that's what people think you are doing. If you do trade him your fans won't be mad you traded him, just that you didn't get the moon for him like you led them to believe you would. In the meantime you just make the player think you really don't want him around. |

Problem is Murray has said he is not actively shopping anyone, but he will listen to offers for anyone.
Myers is the most attractive peice on the Sabres that a good team would want. |

what about Myers NTC?

I wouldn't think that would be a concern. They gave Moulson and Gionta NTC's and they look like sh*t so far |

Darcy structured the contract so that the NTC doesn't kick in until the final few years. He currently does not have a NTC. I think 2016 it kicks in. Not 100%, but that's what I remember reading. |

This.
So far in 2 games he's averaged 25 min per game and has been on the ice for only 1 goal against. He's rounding out into a very, very good player - sbroads24
Put these numbers into perspective. When myers is on the ice against the other teams top lines, they are currently scoring 1 goal per 50 minutes. When he is not on the ice they are scoring one per 9 minutes. He has also produced a lot of scoring chances. He is very much improved since Nolan took over.
Any trade with Detroit would have to begin with mantha, period. If that's a non starter then move along, we will keep him no problem. |

Agreed. I also realize it's only a 2 game sample but if it continues (which it won't on this team) then the talks of him being bad defensively are put to bed. |

There isn't a single player on the Sabres roster who is worth a mantha.

I'm sure this has been said by one of your fans in the first week of the season for the last 47 years. As per usual, it's not happening. |

Treating that list like gospel is when the rebuild takes longer than normal. - Isles_since_6
Not treating it like gospel, just using it as a reference. Saying Mantha is worth more than anything the Sabres have is more than likely not true |

That's not what your post said. The rankings listed there are one person's opinion, not fact. You could well have one prospect on that list become the best player of all those players, could just as easily bomb. I'm not saying mantha is better than any of your prospects either, just that using that list and saying two of yours are better is just as silly a statement as his. |

It's funny when the story came out in the summer and the Wings were mentioned Sabres fans were saying the Wings would have to give them Mantha or NyQuist (or both according to some fans) and Wings fans said that's a non-starter there is not way the Wings would do that deal. Apparently everybody was right.

Seems kind of stupid to even say you are talking about trading a guy if your asking price is so ridiculously high nobody in their right mind would pay it. All your doing is messing with Myers head which probably doesn't really need any more of that.
I guess anytime people write about the Sabres and don't mention how terrible they are and all they have to look forward to is the possibility of drafting McDavid is a win. - noffsin6
All it is on both sides is posturing. Sabres want as high a return as possible if they move Myers, as does anyone moving an asset. |

mantha is a very dominant prospect but an unproven commodity. If buffalo is calling Detroit they are probably trying to pry him away. If Detroit is calling buffalo they are probably looking to move a bunch of lesser prospects for myers. it's just posturing. - joshs

Here's a thought for anyone thinking Myers is moving, why would the Sabres move him now and sell low when they have a few years to see if he can play at his rookie level again? How does this benefit them when they have a ton of prospects in the system and 3 first round picks this summer? It's not like they have to get younger and developing a 6'7 defenseman is a better bet at his stage than it is trying to find another one. Yes he's been erratic but it's not like it's going to hurt them to hold onto him. |
