that would be the worst for this team we need better players for the future - 2Real
I will never believe that losing is better than competing and trying to win -- hell, just look at Saturday. What happened there? They didn't compete hard enough, didn't try to win, in the third period,
What good did coughing up a three-goal lead at home do for anybody? Anybody at all? |

You think there's still water in that well without Hartnell and Timmonen. - mayorofangrytown
Don't you know that Hartnell is a terrible skater who did nothing ever but take penalties and fall down? The loss of Timonen should be offset by the gain of losing Hartnell, and now we've got speedster and 2-way superstar Umberger in the lineup. |

this all sounds good to me - mydoglicks
I am just trying to think logically. Maybe a team like Anahiem losses Kessler for the playoffs. He was their second line center banking on him . Could a team like that use Vinny for a playoff run?
A team needing size could use Grossmann.
Coburn could be a great 1B or second pairing guy for a team hitting the playoffs. RJ could be a solid option on a 3rd line for a cup contender.
Rinaldo could go to a team needing to make their 4th line better th his skting ad energy. I actually think the Flyers chave pieces that playoff teams could use. Just the mix isn't that great as a whole for their team. |

So, if they fall out of the playoff race, you're all for embracing a full-blown rebuild? |

I would be totally ok with suffering a terrible season to get a crack at McDavid or Eichel. Can you imagine our future if we could have Giroux and McDavid along with Ghost/Morin/Hagg/Sanheim anchoring our blueline in 3-4 years? We could instantly be a powerhouse...you add in a few good solid veteran free agents along with Simmer, Couts/Voracek etc....WOW, makes it almost dreamy thinking about it. |

For the record, I hate the Philadelphia fans who are only happy (and only show up on boards like this) when they have something to complain about. - jmatchett383

If they'd be a powerhouse with McDavid, does that make them a contender in 3-4 years with the current guys we have? |

No, it's usually the same 4-5 guys who show up on certain days, and disappear when the teams is doing well.

In a way. I think they could shed pieces but still bring in youngsters and get this team going. I think Morin, depending on this recovery, could be ready next year. So could Gostisbiere and haag and Alt. Maybe even Sanheim. I think Leirer and Laughton and maybe Abul-Kubel could be ready. I think it could be a 2 or 3 year process but the purge could start. |

one thing to think about is what a season like that would do to Mason long-term, if anything. |

I'm the guy who has been saying all along they're a bubble team and got shredded for "pessimism" before the season started. But using an example that happened to this very team just last year is a bit much - Jsaquella
not to mention the teams we caught and beat out seemed to have improved there teams |

As much as it pains me to say it, I actually want them to be so bad that they'll get the #1 pick this year. I don't think it will happen but getting McDavid or Eichel > getting bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs. |

By the time this team is ready i think we will be talking about Stolarz pushing for the starter job or already won it. |

Even if those guys are "ready" (and I think you're being optimistic that they'll all be ready) next year, they're not ready to be impact players any time soon. So you're basically going to be bad for 2-3 years before you will start the turnaround. They'll never allow that, as they'd lose too many STHs. |

IMO no, I do believe we have chemistry issues, Schenn is just not working out anywhere you put him, Vinny also will hopefully be gone by then, Couts/Laughton/Akeson should all be better I would hope. They need a sniping winger to compliment one of the top 2 lines , maybe thru Free Agency or trade somehow. |
