Lombardi: cant fit that under the cap without getting rid of too many core players that we've won with. sorry. - tweaver3312
Oh, sorry:
Crosby, Malkin, Maata (all at 50% retained salary) and 5 1sts for Doughty

Screw that, bump Read up to the 2nd line. He's much better than Schenn. And Couturier should be centering 2nd line. - Fast_Eddie_1
Look at the ES ice times more than the order the lines are written down.

Coots and Read are 1st and 3rd in ES ice time per game. |

The team that finishes last only has a 20% chance of getting the first pick. We don't even need to finish last guys!! One of these years, a team in the 5-8% chance will win that pick. We're owed some karma after losing Kane. This is the year - eayost
Could you imagine winning the first pick and then you move forward with Giroux, McDavid, Couturier and Laughton |

It probably does. So would the Tavares pick, but I'll take Giroux. Also, I'll take the pick we currently have and hope it turns into another Giroux-type pick (assuming it's not a high lottery pick). Would you rather have Giroux and possibly another, younger Giroux, or the #1 pick this year? - jmatchett383
That's exactly why I wouldn't make that kind of trade. I also don't understand the preoccupation w/ the d-corps having to be directly in line w/ G in terms of age.
If they pick anywhere in the top-12, I think chances are good they get a Carter/JvR level player... the only trick then would be to actually keep him this time. |

Trading Streit seems like an odd move considering how dependent the team is on the top PP unit, unless you are trying to tank, which the Flyers will never do.
In my view trading for Myers would be to upgrade the team. It's not part of giving up on the season.
And AMac doesn't need a stud next to him to be a solid second pairing guy. He was excellent with Streit last year in limited minutes, and decent with LSchenn (they were miles better than the MDZ-LSchenn poop-fest). He has only struggled here when played with Coburn on the top pairing. - Feanor
lol amac and excellent. theres a combination of words that don't normally end up in the same sentence, unless it's combined with "Beat by Excellent move"
the guy is a 5th dman, he's a more mobile grossman. thats it. and he has a lower iq actually. he's a well below average passer, his on ice iq is extremely low, and in all honesty he is horrible when it comes to the corners, or covering the front of the net.
i know, i know this isn't a popular opinion of the guy in these blogs... i've seen this guy play 100+ games. IDK how many isles games you got to see, but he's not that good. and don't spew this garbage that he was good last year for the flyers. he played like a 4th/5th dman at best, check the numbers. and no i do not consider blocked shots to be a very substantial number when the guy is -2314512345 in corsi.
For now i'll just wait, along with the isles fans who ROFLd when the flyers locked him up at 5per for 6. the rest of you will see this guy is a bottom pair player... well if you wanna win a cup, hes a bottom pair player. |

Try him on D for all I care... just quit putting him on LW. - Tomahawk
LW is the best spot for him. He does too much damage defensively when at center. |

Thanks Bill. Great analysis as usual. I have noticed that over the past few years, the Flyers hate to play a full 60 minute game. Either they get off to a slow start, and try to catch up, or they fold during the last period. I really think that Rinaldo needs to be replaced by Jones, and that the B. Schenn experiment on G's line isn't working. I would place G on wing, and see what center would fit. If the Flyers can't find a wing, why not try a center for that line; it seems like we have enough centers on the team? Thank goodness Chief went with Bellemare, and not Vandevelde. He, and Akeson have been a nice surprise by playing well together. Now that I think of it, if G was to stay at center, would Straka be a good fit for that line? Just a thought since Schenn seems less effective on the wing.

id give brayden and luke for myers +.....Myers is a upgrade over amac. - PhillaBully
I'm not sure about that. And, if Myers was an upgrade, would he be worth both Schenns to get? I just think there are other, safer options than trading for Myers. |

Look at the stats. When not paired with Coburn he has been solid for the Flyers.
58.5% CF with Streit
47.2% CF with LSchenn
He's nothing like Grossmann:
49.6% CF with Streit
29% CF with LSchenn |

I think Myers is pretty safe...im done with the schenns...then again thats my opinion and may not be right....
Ill say this though:
out of the list below pick the the best one:
Myers/coburn
Scehnn/coburn
streit/Coburn
Amac/coburn
gross/coburn |

When Schenn was paired with him, he elevated his play, probably the same would happen, (maybe), for Del Zotto. |

How amazing is it that the player the Flyers traded JVR for, can't crack the third pairing on the worst defense core in the League?
Stupefying. |

Or you make the move and get this:
Coburn-Myers
Streit - Morin
Gostisbiere - Hagg
And then when Sanheim is ready he takes over for Streit or Coburn - J35Bacher
There is a selected few I'm very unwilling to part with but gun to my head for a guy like Tyler Myers.
Vincent Lecavalier, Andrew MacDonald, Michael Del Zotto, RJ Umberger and right now Michael Raffl. Lecavalier, MacDonald and Umberger are strictly to make money work. Del Zotto and Raffl are both young and aren't playing very well, and yes I understand Raffl scored against Montreal. |

yea cant pass and/or get out of his own zone, so he turns it over and he's forced to try and block shots, since there are so many coming at his own end (and so few going the other way) |

40.4CF%, -2.98% rel... 5th 6th-ranked on the blueline in both. Granted a lot of the CA was accrued in the last game. Were you talking about other numbers? |

Well since the first and third pairing are interchangeable, it's kind of a moot point. Nevermind me. |

how big is this sample with streit?
that with schenn is better than i anticipated...
still not top 4 with schenn on a cup contender.
get back to me on the streit # of minutes, or games, and i may chance my opinion. |

I'd probably go Streit/Coburn followed by Myers/Coburn or AMac/Coburn. But I still wouldn't trade for Myers. Just my opinion. No matter how you slice it though, the Flyers blueline will probably be less than a ideal for at least another year or too. |
