No.
They have Matt Moulson, who wants to be here. So that makes the above impossible. - buffalofan19
I bet he regrets signing here now. |

I doubt he does.
However, it does make you wonder: a guy set to cash in on the biggest contract of his career, after spending the better part of a decade with one of the worst organizations in the league, chooses another rebuilding team. It means one of two things: he really, really enjoys Kool-Aid, or winning just simply isn't that high on his list of priorities. |

Or that he's not any use to a playoff team because when the speed and intensity ramp up, he's already been at max in the regular season. He's a good team guy but he's never going to be a 30 goal guy again. |

I look at it as, at least we're overpaying a guy who will try. Unlike Leino or Erhoff.

I'd rather overpay nobody, whether they try or not. |

We might have overpaid those 2. But they did that because they thought they were close. With Moulson, they gave him 5 years to simply be a veteran presence. So far in his 47 games as a Sabre he has 11 goals and on the wrong side of 30, not exactly a smart move IMO. |

Don't get me wrong. I couldn't care less if he's here or not this year. What I had a problem with was the five years part. The next time this team is any good, he shouldn't be around. |

Good Answer . His Sister is playing for Niagara . His Wife is from Upstate New York and he grew up just down the road , across the Bridge . Maybe we will be a winner while he is still here . You never know. |

Not at the trend he's heading in.
I have no problem with him wanting to be here, I have a problem with rewarding that with a 5 year deal. |

I can understand that, but really, worst case, buy him out in a couple of years if the team is on the way up and they need him off the roster. It's not a great deal but I don't see it hurting the sabres, it's not like clarkson and phaneuf

The problem with that is this team is very, very young. If this team ends up being as good as we all hope it will be by that time with all these prospects and high-end draft picks, it means that some of them are going to command some sizable paydays. And with those paydays comes some sizable cap hits, which means you need all the space you can spare. |

I found it odd that Danny White fired Witherspoon, but retained Quinn in the first place. I understand wanting to go in a different direction, and putting a fresh emphasis on winning, but they both should have been gone from day 1. |

Stay the course, Tim.
But the in-game effort has got to be better, even with the talent discrepancy most nights. |

And regardless, he's here now and got the deal he got.
So like it or not, that's what it is. I think there's a few more 'placeholders" on this team that will be gone one way or another when the kids are ready for the NHL. |

I didn't see the game today, but for the first two games, effort wasn't the problem. They were simply the worse of two teams by a wide margin. |

we still have our josh bailey, brian strait and matt carkner. I keep waiting for snow to get rid of the useless players but I think they have photos of him.
