Harder for me to enjoy if they are getting worked
I do understand it is a process and that Coburn is out, but it wouldn't be a crime if these guys stepped up the level of play at home and overcame some adversity against a good time that played yesterday - AllInForFlyers
It is harder to enjoy, but I start viewing it more critically. Also fewer games to rewatch later. |

he played a ton last game if i recall? i know a certain fellow on here wont agree with me, but coburn being out is a killer. other people are forced to take on more of a burden that all things considered, is out of their paygrade - stayinthefnnet
I just don't think Berube had any other ready made options other than to overplay AMac. But ideally, he's not playing nearly that much. |

The conversations on what to do next with the team become more interesting, for sure, if they stink.
It's no bueno if you have tickets to games, though. |

okay well, tonight for instance. how would you like to go into the game planning to distribute minutes?

thats just what i dont get about the flyers. they arent totally devoid of talent. and its not like buffalo where it is all youth or nothing. they have the top center, which is fairly akin to your quarterback in football. they have what appears to be some decent complementary guys. a goalie im sold on. i dont think this team will be anywhere nearly involved in the mcdavid sweeps. but yet something still does seem off. |

Nothing specific, but I'd like our 3rd pair (the esteemed Fat Schenn and Michael Del Zotto) to assume more of the burden (unlike last game) so MacDonald and others are not overly exposed.
You wouldn't want Andrew MacDonald exposing himself. |

I would put the entire team* in the press box and unleash a horde of Mites on Ice, the wee 'uns couldnt possibly play any worse than the Flyers.
* I might dress Simmonds, because he appears to actually be able to find the back of the net. |

Using your football analogy, it's the line play -- nothing looks right in football when the lines can't block or pressure, and that is what happens with the Flyers -- until this team defense gets right, nothing else will go right

later in the season i wouldnt want to burn him out for the stretch run, but for now, id take my chances with amac over schenn and del zotto.
theyre not quite scuderi bad, but they are pretty rough. |

In Bob Clarke times and even early Paul Holmgren times, I'd say a trade was coming.
I don't think a trade is out there for the Flyers to be had, at this point, unless they sell low on youth or set fire to their (thin) prospect pipeline. It seems Hextall is inclined to do neither, which I'm actually OK with. It's just hard to watch when the NHL product sucks. |

I tell ya, when the blow 3-0 leads in the 3rd at home it makes it very hard for me to enjoy it.. I'd really like to see them sort this out and get some wins here. |

There's Jeff Petry rumblings, and he'd help, but he's not a cure all. |

Would you trade us Scuderi if it meant the Flyers would be guaranteed McDavid (or Eichel)? |

i do think the personnel mix on defense lacks any top end talent, and doesnt compensate for that like some teams do with a good overall mix. however, i dont think that top 10 stud defender is coming anywhere in the near future for this team. that being said, it doesnt necessarily have to.
i notice you said team defense. as far as the forward ranks go, do you mean perhaps the inclusion of more defensively inclined players, the implementation of a different system, or just greater heart and commitment from the guys already there? |

now buffalo on the other hand....
ill ship scuderi and a fourth for a 7th rounder from them.
they can make him a workhorse, and suffer the glorious consequences.
and then scott harrington can be broken into the bottom pair. |

The latter when it comes to situations like the 3rd period of the Montreal game. The other poster is correct. Until the Flyers play a consistent team game, it's not going to get better.
