bro, I was playing street hockey with the little guy yesterday, he was the habs.

he does play-by-play out loud, he made this play: Gilbert to Eller and scores.


All I could think of was asp fuming

i think they signed Gilbert because they wanted to transition from a shot-blocking team to more of a puck possession team. it's why they brought in Gilbert, why Beaulieu is on the team, why they got rid of Gorges. it's why they brought in a big guy like Sekac and let Gionta go and replaced Briere with Parenteau. and if you watched, when Montreal's been at its best (2nd and 3rd periods against TO and WSH, third against Philly), that's the type of game they've played. can they do it consistently? hopefully by the middle of the season they can.

but let's ease up on Gilbert. he's being paid like a third pairing defenceman. it's not his fault he's being asked to play 22 minutes. i assume that isn't the long term plan and the hope is that the rookies evolve into guys who can take more minutes.
