BINGO! Sad that it takes a mildly entertaining Troll to spell it out for people. The roster isn't that good. We have some great pieces, but this isn't a playoff line up. Eakins isn't THE issue. He might be one of many, but the main one is as you stated. Mac T has done a great job in the limited time he has had, but the job is far from done.

Imagine the Oilers are a classic '72 Charger that was found in some old farmers barn, off the road for 30 years. Solid frame and most of the body is somewhat intact. Engine is still in good shape save a part or there, but overall a piece of poop with no tires, torn interior, and some rust and glass damage.

So Mac T has rebuilt the engine, replaces the pistons, cleaned or replaced the hoses and fuel pumps, new wipers, new wiper motor, new filters,new battery ,alternator and connectors, quality bondo and wicked awesome paint job, new windshield, new rims, sweet new leather interior and seats, upgrade on the stereo and replaced all the lamps.

Did Mac T do a great job on this car? (frank) yeah! Is it ready to do the quarter mile?
(frank) NO! Still missing the tires, Fan Belt and there is a hole in the gas tank.

First overall, can't believe you missed the boat.

I wish they could find a way to give Yaks some more ice time as well. No sense in panicking after only two games. If they are still losing like this after 20 games, then we can hit the panic button. Eakins defense seems to be a confused bunch out there. I hope they get it organized sooner than later. Fasth played a pretty good game against the Canucks, hope they play him again against L.A.

The solution is quite easy...stop taking so many penalties as a team and his time will go up. Eakins managed his time well, just like all you Jabronis who hate Eakins hoped he would.

Yakupov is averaging less ice time than Joensuu. He has been one of our best forwards in our own end this year and back checking.. i don't give a (frank) how many penalties we take. He shouldn't be 2nd last on the team in ice time

Last year yea maybe, this year? He has looked really good, imo, in his own zone. With his play so far this year in both ends of the ice. He deserves to be play more than Joensuu. He shouldn't be 2nd last on our team in ice time. It's only 2 games in, but Yaks time on ice looks like more of the same, with noticably better play

Okay, you need to think this through for a second.
Firstly, Yak might be playing well on both ends in the first 2 (TWO!) games this year. But he has to prove he can maintain this sort of effort consistently. He may be rewarded tonight.
Secondly, Eakins has to be very, very careful when pairing him up with rookie Draisaitl. Shelter the minutes and the zone starts. DO NOT put them in a position to fail, lose confidence, ect.
3rdly, Yak could be promoted to the 2nd line, breaking up the pair, but that now means that Eakins has to be careful how he deploys both his 2nd and 3rd lines.Unless Yak proves without a doubt that he handle it, it certainly complicates things, especially on the road.
Lastly, do the Math. The Gordon, Joensuu, Hendricks line is designed to take the majority of the tough defensive zone starts. Nobody is gonna get more 5X5 minutes than the RNH,Hall, and Ebs line. So what does leave to split between The LD/Yak Line and the Arco/Perron line? Not much but if I were to make the choice, the tougher the zone start the more I would lean towards Arco/Perron.

Also, you just hate Eakins, so you will always default to this as part of your argument. Try to look at this objectively and consider why Yak hasn't gotten more ice time.
